After three weeks with Galaxy S25 Ultra, I returned to S24 Ultra – Here’s the difference

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra Comparison

It’s about a month since Samsung started global S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra sales and I’ve been one of the first customers to buy an Ultra unit and using it for the past three weeks as my primary phone but recently returned to my Galaxy S24 Ultra to find some the difference between these two flagships.

Design

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is lightweight compared to S24 Ultra. Due to its squared off frame with round corners, the phone sits well in one or two hands. I’ve been messaging in the new phone each day through this timeline, and round corners helped me to sustain the typing pace for a long duration.

The weight change is still noticeable with a case.

The S24 Ultra is a bit easier to pick from a flat surface than the S25 Ultra. It’s slightly curved frame has an upper hand over the successor, but it’s not a big deal if you get used to the new phone.

Display

Due to the S25 Ultra’s slimmer bezels, the new model appears to have identical height as the S24 Ultra despite having a slightly increased display. The low bezels also improve the full view for watching content, playing games or just enjoying the adaptive refresh rate.

The screen’s brightness is identical but the pixel quality feels a bit better in the new phone.

Camera

No major difference in the 200MP camera but the capture operation is snaps quickly in Galaxy S25 Ultra. The quality of ultra wide angle has been improved in terms of pixels and the brightness enhancements are also better than S24 Ultra. Meanwhile, the periscope remains unchanged.

The best thing about the S25 Ultra camera is night videos that produce brighter images than the S24 Ultra.

Another important camera feature in S25 Ultra is the AI filters, and this is the most creative part of the pre and post capturing picture and recording videos. These are also coming to 24 Ultra with One UI 7 software update.

Performance

S25 Ultra performance is noticeable when you scroll through menus, open an app or switch over to different background apps. First time users won’t notice much but S24 Ultra owners will get a good impression on this new hardware integration and software combination.

Speaking of which, the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset is undoubtedly a major advantage of the new device. Why? Because touch responsiveness of the phone steps over S24 Ultra.

On the other hand, the heat management is also better than in S25 Ultra, I’ve played Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt Legends Unit for 30 minutes, 1, 2, and 3 hours.

The phone has shown only a limited amount of heat generation on the camera side, which only appears after 30 minutes or 1 hour of gameplay. This could be due to the new larger heat dissipation system and vapor chamber. Meanwhile, the S24 Ultra wasn’t efficient as the new Ultra flagship but it still has the second best heat management in the flagship category.

One UI 7 and AI

The Galaxy S25 Ultra has pre-installed One UI 7 and it’s stable. The software exploration in this device is smooth, whether you open the quick panel, switch to notifications, swipe left and right, the phone’s hardware is fully adapted for this OS from the ground.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra on the other side went through an upgrade phase. It was introduced with One UI 6 and is running One UI 7 beta in my model. Despite beta, the phone works exceptionally well with One UI 7 and it’s pretty close to the S25 Ultra.

However, the home screen and everything on One UI 7 looks better on S25 Ultra due to its maximized display and low bezels.

The seamless experience of unlocking, transitioning to the home screen, and opening an app and everything else happens effortlessly in the new S25 Ultra.

Additional One UI 7 features such as Now Brief greets you in different times of the day with important summaries and tasks. Meanwhile, Now Bar is available on both devices.

S25 Ultra has better global search thanks to the new AI processing power, it can understand more context with a simple explanation. The same goes for Gallery, it will have better intelligence when you try to sort your pictures or find one based on a description.

The S25 Ultra brings Gemini AI voice assistant but I am not a fan of that capability. One more thing, the drawing assistant in S25 Ultra creates good images with text prompts.

Battery and Charging

The S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra have the same 5000mAh battery capacity and the backup is also identical, as the new phone has 1 hour of additional backup. However, the latter chargers a bit faster thanks to Super Charging 2.0.

What’s funny is that I’ve used 45W charger with in-box cable on the S24 Ultra but it only charges at a standard super fast charging and the S25 Ultra responds with Super Fast Charging 2.0.

Samsung should’ve applied the same technology to the previous flagship for user convenience.

Conclusion

The Galaxy S25 Ultra has its own advantages over the S24 Ultra but the previous flagship gives neck to neck competition to its successor, making it hard for me to find any major difference.

Galaxy S25 Edge renders revealed design and specs before its anticipated launch

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

A new set of Galaxy S25 Edge renders have appeared online and revealed information about the upcoming device, including its design as well as specs.

Winfuture has shared a bunch of material about Galaxy S25 Edge starting with the launch date, which could happen next month, but an exact date is not shared.

The phone will equip a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with 2400 x 1000 pixels resolution. The display is flat on all side, rounded corners, and a hole punch to feature a selfie camera. The front appearance is identical to the Galaxy S25 and S25+.

The S25 Edge will pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The other three models from the lineup also have this chipset, enhancing the processing capability over Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It means that the phone will also support all of the latest Galaxy AI features.

Unlike its S25 siblings, the Edge model will offer two rear cameras, including a 200MP main sensor. The secondary will a 12MP camera, probably for ultra-wide angle photography. It was previously rumored to bring ALoP camera, a next-generation telescope lens, but this tech remains unconfirmed in the renders.

The S25 Edge is 5.8mm thick, which excludes the camera bump. However, achieving a thin form factory would require the company to sacrifice an important aspect – battery.

This minimized size wouldn’t allow Samsung to in-built a large capacity. Hence, the source suggests that the mAh size in S25 Edge will be, 3900mAh. This is fairly low compared to the S25 Plus with 4,900mAh.

Interestingly, the phone has three variants Titanium Jet Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Icy Blue. These names indicate that the phone will be using a titanium design similar to the S25 Ultra.

With each popular model, Samsung has developed a tradition of offering online exclusive colors, and we can hope the same for the S25 Edge.

Galaxy S25 Edge vs S25 Ultra: Dummy reveals special design upgrades

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and S25 Edge Dummy

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will soon make its way to the global customers and a dummy version of the device has revealed a massive upgrade in a side by side comparison to the S25 Ultra.

A Korean YouTuber has published a video featuring S25 Edge dummy, actually two dummies of the unreleased device, and explained some upgrades over the high-specs Samsung flagship.

Starting with looks, the YouTuber had two dummies, one in white and the other in all-black color. The rear side is plain as standard S25 model, with a more clear look at the vertical camera integration.

The phone has two lenses and their outlook is similar in size. The camera bump is only visible for design purpose, consisting of an LED flash.

The overall appearance is quite identical to the standard S25 and S25+. Notably, the black version has all colored appearance including a black frame, which blends into the rear.

The dummy was measured in real-time with a digital scale, revealing a 5.84mm thickness, around 2.4mm thinner than the S25 Ultra (8.2mm).

In a head’s down, side by side comparison, the S25 Edge looks impressively slimmer than the S25 Ultra. That’s not it, there’s more to observe in this shot.

Look at the components, the decreased thickness cannot be achieved without components and Samsung affirmed this in the short teaser at Unpacked 2025.

The teaser showed redesigned spare parts for this flagship. The look at the bottom of the device reveals trimmed charging port, the Sim Tray, and reshuffled speaker location.

A rear shot suggests that the phone has a slight less width than the Ultra, but the difference doesn’t look much in the video.

Another thing to note is that the device is smaller than the S25 Ultra, which is due to the smaller screen size at around 6.5-6.7-inches. The Galaxy S25 Edge dummy looks quite compelling with its design cut over S25 Ultra.

Conclusion

The new design upgrade will improve the in-hand experience for Galaxy S25 Edge users but we’ll have to wait for an official release date.
