What’s wrong with the Now Bar in One UI 7?

Published

Samsung One UI Now Bar

Now Bar is one of the most highlighting updates in One UI 7. Samsung has deployed the feature with the very first beta version of the software. The music activity has a weird sizing issue in the One UI 7 Now Bar function.

One UI 7.0 has added a graphically rich live activity pill to the lock screen. The UI showcases real-time updates from several compatible apps and services. The music app activities are ruining the experience due to an odd sizing bug.

Music activity on the Now Bar seems to be affecting the lock screen shortcuts. The activity pill sometimes stretches to the left and right shortcuts on the lock screen, and the bug also enlarges the icons of lock screen shortcuts.

It doesn’t affect the usability and controls, but indeed a user interface glitch. When spotted, we’ve tried to make the problem resurface with different attempts. While testing, we’ve noticed that the entire system is affected due to the Music app.

Now Bar pills appear in slidable pagination style on the lock screen. It happens when more than one live activity is running. When the Music app is running, other Now Bar activities are getting affected by the sizing issue.

Music app together with Timer caused the lock screen shortcuts to become larger surrounding the Now Bar. The UI pill has also extended from its dedicated area to reach the side shortcuts, affecting the overall visibility of the lock screen.

The problem has been found in the latest version of One UI 7 Beta. Samsung is unlikely to release the fourth Beta update for Galaxy S24 users. The issue is most likely to be addressed in the Stable build of One UI 7, powered by Android 15.

Samsung is expected to release Stable One UI 7 update by February 7. Here’s more on the release date and eligible devices –

The issue first appeared on a Twitter post, where users shared their frustration with the overheating problem after updating their devices. Normally, phones can get hot during heavy activities like gaming or long charging, but many Galaxy A55 owners are experiencing heating issues during simple tasks. This has caused discomfort, as the phone becomes hard to use or hold.

At the moment, only a few users are affected, and it’s not clear if this problem is widespread or limited to certain models or regions. While overheating can sometimes be caused by overcharging, gaming, or heavy use, the problem seems to be happening in normal usage scenarios as well.

Samsung to resolve one-hand gesture notification glitch in One UI 7 soon

Samsung One UI 7 one hand issue

Some Samsung Galaxy users have reported an issue when using the One-Hand gesture on their phone’s lock screen, especially when trying to view notifications. When users swipe down to see the notifications, they sometimes overlap incorrectly with the gesture. This issue has been causing frustration for users who prefer using the one-hand mode.

This issue appeared because of changes in the notification window behavior in One UI 7, which is currently in the beta phase. These changes unintentionally caused issues with how the one-hand gesture interacted with the notification panel and led to the overlap.

Samsung has acknowledged the issue and apologized to users who have experienced this problem. The community moderator has confirmed that the issue has been fixed and will be included in the next update for the One-Hand Operation+ app.

Once the update is released, the bug should be fixed, and users will be able to swipe down on the lock screen to view their notifications without them overlapping with the gesture. This will make it easier for users to manage their notifications without any issues.

However, the community moderator hasn’t mentioned an exact date for the update yet. So, keep an eye out for the next One-Hand Operation update, as it will provide a smoother and more efficient experience.
