Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra survives brutal drop test, but there’s one issue

The most awaited drop test video of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is finally released. Samsung’s new flagship survived a brutal drop test like a champ, but there’s one issue.
YouTube channel PBKReviews published the Galaxy S25 Ultra drop test video. The smartphone has proved its durability but the new screen protection solution seems to scratch easier.
Gorilla Armor 2 offers enhanced durability to the Galaxy S25 Ultra but at a cost of less effective scratch resistance, however, it’s always better to have durability over scratch resistance.
The YouTuber dropped the new phone from a handful of height positions on concrete. Interestingly, the device remained functional without any hardware damage or defect.

The back panel didn’t get any visible mark of drop, thanks to the protection solution. The titanium frame has tiny dents that shouldn’t be an issue if you’ve mistakenly dropped the device.
While the phone remained safe in the drop test, the condition may vary in your case. The test has occurred in such a controlled way that’s different from usual accidental drops.

The overall build quality of the S25 Ultra has been described as on par with or slightly better than its predecessor in terms of passing bend tests and other physical stress tests.
While rival flagships feature an IP69 rating, the S25 Ultra retains an IP68 rating. However, it ensures the device to withstand being submerged in water up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.

How Verizon’s Satellite Messaging works on the Galaxy S25 series

Verizon offers Satellite Messaging features on Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series and Google’s Pixel 9 series. The carrier has partnered with Skylo to provide satellite connectivity features to let users reach out to emergency services without a network.
The service provider has now revealed how the Satellite Messaging system works on the Galaxy S25 series and Pixel 9 series. In addition, Skylo outlined the difference between the Satellite Connectivity offered by Samsung and Google.
Verizon’s service offering relies on Skylo’s ground-based stations, which connect to satellites from several providers. Thankfully, the new Samsung flagships automatically connect to the provider with the best signal in Canada and the US.
Verizon and Skylo’s Satellite-powered emergency SOS service has three main features, including:
- Connect with emergency services
- Share the user’s locations with Garmin’s emergency response service
- Send/receive texts with Garmin’s response service.
When triggered, the emergency messaging requires the user to stand outside with a clear view of the sky. This is to ensure proper connectivity between the phone and satellite to establish an emergency network for messaging.
Later, the user interface requires some details to be filled such as the type of emergency and requests for more details. Once done, the first message takes roughly three to four seconds to send and a subsequent response should take five or six seconds.
T-Mobile has partnered with SpaceX’s Starlink for satellite connectivity. Following a handful of Samsung phones, the carrier has introduced Beta testing of its emergency SOS service for compatible Apple iPhone models.
