Samsung 2025 Over the Horizon

The Galaxy S25 family’s Over The Horizon ringtone features the vibrant tempo of big band jazz, weaving the journey of One UI into the passage of time and the rhythm of everyday life.

Samsung revealed the Over The Horizon 2025 ringtone ahead of the Galaxy S25 series launch. The company’s signature ringtone will debut in the upcoming phones, bringing dynamic rhythms and soulful harmonies of big band jazz.

The Korean tech giant refreshes “Over the Horizon” every year with new arrangements. For the S24 series, the ringtone embodied the convergence of tradition and modernity through an orchestra.

For Over The Horizon 2025, the arrangement was created by Los Angeles-based pianist and composer Jacob Mann. Additionally, the recording and mastering in Dolby Atmos are overseen by engineer Will Kennedy.

On the flip side, Kennedy created an immersive recording environment that highlighted the essence of big-band jazz. Mann infused the piece with his unique interpretation of the “rhythm of the day.”

Jacob said that creating Over The Horizon felt like “playing in a sandbox” as a child. The freedom of creation helped him create and finalize this masterpiece that would sound over the years.

Over The Horizon 2025 will be featured in the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung is set to launch the new flagship phones at the Unpacked event next week. Meanwhile, the official release is expected to happen in the first week of February.

Use this feature to protect your Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra battery

Samsung Battery Protection

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has the largest battery among the S25 series devices, equipped with a large 5000mAh, this flagship has one feature that could help you protect the phone’s battery backup.

This feature spotlight is – Battery protection and it is off by default. Once enabled, you can cap your charging level to 80% each time you plug in the charger. However, it’s not the only capability that this specific setting has to offer.

Why is this important? By default, you can charge the Galaxy S25 Ultra at its max capacity but research showed that charging at 100% is not good for the battery’s health.

Continuously charging at 100% can decline the battery lifespan over time, as the constant high charge level puts stress on the battery cells, even when the phone shows you that the charging stopped.

This impact will not be visible in the short term but you may experience a sudden battery performance decline in the future if you aim to continue the device.

Therefore, it’s generally considered to charge the phone between 20% to 80% to retain the battery capacity lifespan.

Here’s how the Battery Protection feature works for Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Open Settings and scroll down to the battery section. Choose the Battery Protection setting and tap the on-screen slider.

This page will show you three options:

  • Basic
  • Adaptive
  • Maximum

Basic

The first option will let you charge the battery at 100% but stop doing so until the battery declines to 95%. In action, the option notifies the phone that the battery is sufficiently charged, and to recharge 100%, the current battery level must be below 95%. This cycle resets each time the phone reaches this minimum battery level.

Adaptive

It stops charging at 80% when you are asleep and switch to Basic before you wake up. It uses your phone’s usage patterns to estimate the sleep time.

Maximum

Maximum will let you stop charging at 80%. Previously, this option used to have a fixed value but now you can set this between 80%, 85%, 90%, and 95%.

To be mentioned, this battery feature is also available on S25 and S25+.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Display

Samsung has released the Stable One UI 7 with Galaxy S25 series but a more refined version would come out by the end of March. The company is still working to optimize the One UI 7 software for the newly launched Galaxy flagships.

The Galaxy S25 series was unveiled at the Unpacked event on January 22. After 11-day-long preorders, Samsung released the flagships on February 7. The same date marked the release of the Stable One UI 7 version powered by Android 15.

Samsung can delay the software’s release but it’s difficult to shift flagship device reveal. Launching new flagship phones with outdated (One UI 6.1) software doesn’t make sense so a nearly perfect version apparently powers the S25 models.

The Korean tech giant has recently released a February 2025 security patch for the Galaxy S25 series. The first firmware update also reportedly brings camera lithography-related fixes to elevate the photography experience.

Meanwhile, the full potential of One UI 7 is yet to benefit the S25 series. All the features and services work just perfectly but there’s room for improvements across the system software that Samsung would ensure by the end of March.

Samsung is bringing One UI a big revamp

One UI 7 expansion for older phones is unlikely to start until April 2025. Samsung still has to do a lot of work on the software’s optimization. Three Betas have been provided so far and three more are reportedly planned until April.

After skipping the Galaxy S25 series, the One UI 7.1 version is unlikely to debut in the Galaxy S25 Edge. A recent report also claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 might be introduced with the One UI 7.0.1 version.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has crushed all rivals in the DXOMark display test. It has secured the leading rank in the DXOMark display chart with an overall score of 160 points.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra sports an insane display, leading it to beat all premium challengers including the Pixel 9 Pro XL, iPhone 16 Pro Max, OnePlus 13, and many others in DXOmark’s display test.

Samsung’s S25 Ultra ranked first with a 160 display score. The Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro rank second and third with 158 points each. Honor Magic 6 Pro ranks fourth with a 157 score, similar to the Galaxy S25 and S25+.

2023’s Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, both models, are listed on 17 and 18th spots with 151 points. Apple’s latest iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro ranked 22nd and 23rd with a score of 150 points on DXOMark’s display chart.

Poor OnePlus 13 ranked 45th with a display score of 143. There’s a lot of hype about the phone’s screen but the reality is different. Beyond on-paper specs, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is leading the display experience in real-life usage.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra sports a 6.9-inch AMOLED 2X display with WQHD+ resolution and ~498 ppi density. It also features 120Hz variable refresh rate support, offering smoother scrolling while maintaining power efficiency.

Apart from all the praises, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s display, as per DXOMARK, fails to adjust brightness for low-light conditions and struggles with managing unintended screen touches, impacting user experience in darker settings.

Pros:

  • Excellent readability outdoors, thanks to high peak luminance and low reflection
  • Good video experience in low light and indoor conditions
  • Smooth touch interaction in every use case

Cons:

  • Brightness level adjustment is not adapted to low light and dark environments
  • Poor management of involuntary touches
