Galaxy S25 Ultra vs S24 Ultra: Camera rings signal big design changes
Samsung Galaxy S25 series boasts a new design approach for camera rings. This year’s flagship has both design and functionality upgrades. The company has refreshed the phones’ appearance while sticking to its famous signature design philosophy.
Let’s explore the design changes in the camera rings of the next flagships:
Galaxy S25 Ultra vs S24 Ultra: Camera rings
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra features the same camera sensor design as the S24 Ultra, however, the camera rings are thicker, with the lenses are encased in a slightly raised, metallic or glass-like housing that blends seamlessly with the back panel.
The S24 series models don’t feature such differentiated camera rings. The rims are of the same diameter from the bottom to the end, which you can understand in the side-by-side comparison.
The camera module on the Galaxy S25 Ultra features a unique ring design where the frames for the lenses and sensors are of different sizes, particularly noticeable on the side and top views.
The S25 Ultra has three large rings, aligned vertically on the top left of the phone’s back. These rings feature the ultrawide sensor, primary camera, and periscope shooter, while the two small rings are equipped with a ToF and 3x telephoto.
Galaxy S25 Series Camera Rings
The new design of rings is sleek and minimalistic, ensuring that the camera module does not protrude significantly from the body of the device, maintaining a smooth profile.
Samsung has tried to make this layout typical for modern smartphones, providing a clean and functional aesthetic while maximizing the use of space for the camera sensors.
The differentiation in ring sizes also subtly indicates the hierarchy of the camera system. The primary and secondary cameras are given prominence, even in terms of physical design.
Samsung will reveal more about the new S25 series at the Unpacked event on January 22, 2025.
