January 2025 is going on and Samsung has pushed the first software update for the Galaxy A16 5G smartphone in the US. This update is available on locked models of the smartphone on the Verizon network carrier and the company will expand it soon.

The fresh update installs the December 2024 security patch to improve system security and stability. The latest security patch fixes several bugs encountered in previous software. This update boosts some functions including Theme Center, Galaxy Watch Bluetooth, SmartSwitch, and Dex Mode.

According to the scope page details, the December 2024 security patch includes over 45 vulnerability fixes from both Google and Samsung. Google’s patch covers 6 critical CVEs and 28 high-level issues, while Samsung adds 8 of its own fixes.

The first software update for Samsung Galaxy A16 5G smartphone arrives with One UI build version A166USQS1AXKA in the US. It is an initial rollout so it may take some hours or days to reach all models.

You can install the update via Settings >> Software Update >> Download and install. Make sure to fully charge your smartphone and connect it via Wi-Fi or a strong Verizon wireless network connection to install the update.

Aside from this, the Galaxy A16 5G build appeared on the Geekbench with One UI 7 and Android 15. It achieved 983 Single-core and 2137 Multi-core scores, showing a strong performance on the next software.

The smartphone shipped with Android 14 and One UI 6.1 out of the box. Now, it seems that this Samsung device will receive its first major update as One UI 7 soon.
