New Gemini overlay design could appear on your Samsung device soon
Google is rolling out a new design for its Gemini overlay on Android, and it could soon appear on Samsung phones. This new redesign gives the Gemini a more modern and appealing look.
Gemini is a voice assistant, which Google’s advanced GenAI technology to make it more powerful and capable. You can easily activate it by pressing the power button, swiping from the bottom corners, or saying “Hey Google.
Previously, when you opened Gemini, you saw a rectangular interface with rounded corners. It showed a greeting, a shortcut to open the full app, options for voice, keyboard, and camera input.
With the new update, the Gemini overlay has become much smaller and simpler. The design now features a text field to make it look more compact. It is similar to the Google Search bar, but it doesn’t have the pill shape.
On the left side of the rounded rectangular overlay design, you will see a ‘plus’ menu, and the “Ask Gemini” prompt is still there. The entire interface now has a blue/purple glow. The Gemini Live shortcut remains at the bottom-right corner.
This new design follows a trend of simplifying the Gemini app, which was updated in October to look cleaner. Some users have already started seeing the new overlay, but it hasn’t reached everyone yet. It’s being rolled out gradually, so Samsung users may have to wait a little longer.
The compact Gemini overlay design could soon appear on Samsung devices, aligning more with the cleaner and simpler design of the One UI. Stay tuned.
