Samsung is secretly testing Android 16 and it could be a good sign for Galaxy users
Seems like Samsung is internally testing the Android 16 even before wrapping up the One UI 7 Beta. Recently, it has been revealed that the company has kicked off internal Android 16 testing, which could be a good sign for Galaxy users.
Some latest Samsung apps reportedly included clues about the upcoming One UI version, the One UI 8. The next big upgrade is expected to add support for Decal Shader to improve the animation and transitions engine on your Galaxy.
The base OS version of the next One UI version will naturally be the Android 16. Smartprix also claims that the One UI 8 will be based on Android 16. Early testing of the new OS is a good sign and we can expect an earlier public rollout too.
The One UI 7 introduces various new features and major design changes. The animation aspect has also improved significantly and the Stable build will make things even better. Samsung would further elevate the user experience with One UI 8.
Android 16 releasing earlier than expected
Google officially announced the shift in Android distribution from Q3 to Q2. The move is to streamline the adoption by Android vendors. The company aims to help phone makers ship their new flagship devices with the latest OS.
Android 16’s Developer Preview is already running for Pixel devices. The new OS is expected to enter the Public Beta stage by the end of February, with the Stable update’s distribution may start by the beginning of June 2025.
When can we expect the One UI 8 release?
Galaxy users may start getting the new OS upgrade sometime in October or November, but it is up to Samsung to speed up the adoption. If Samsung starts Android 16-based One UI 8 Beta in June or July, the Stable rollout may return to the year-end track.
One UI 7 Beta Program was started in early December last year. Samsung is scheduled to unveil the final version of One UI 7 at the Unpacked event later this month. The Stable update’s rollout may start sometime in mid-February this year.
