Samsung Tri-Fold phone design details surface before H2 2025 reveal
Inputs suggest Samsung plans to reveal the first Tri-Fold phone in H2 2025. The company is reportedly exploring an innovative yet durable design. A new report sheds light on the design details of the Samsung Tri-Fold phone.
According to SisaJournal, the Samsung Tri-Fold may feature an innovative G-type design and lack UDC camera. Both hinges will allow the display to be folded inward. It is a different design than Huawei’s Tri-Fold foldable smartphone.
Tri-Fold is the next-gen form factor over the book-style foldable phones. The screen can be folded into three sections, with the left and right displays folding inward toward the center.
When the smartphone is folded, the screen will be placed inside the device, offering the advantage of protecting the display from external shocks and scratches.
Learned from Huawei?
Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate features the S-shaped In&Out foldable displays. Meanwhile, Samsung is considering applying an enhanced G-type product with an inward folding design that folds the screen inwards twice.
It’s reported that Samsung has changed its plans after screen damage issues in Huawei’s Tri-Fold shortly after the release. However, the Galaxy Tri-Fold is unlikely to become a mainstream product given its high price and durability concerns.
An industry source said, “Samsung is prioritizing the G-type, inward-folding form factor and is focusing on development to ensure its completeness as it is a new form factor.”
The report states that Samsung may reveal the new Tri-Fold in the second half of the year. The unveiling may take place alongside the new foldables or shortly later.
Well, Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy S25 series later this month. The company has already started pre-reservations for the next Galaxy, offering free Samsung Credit in the US, early delivery, and enhanced trade-in discounts.
