It’s Official! Samsung Galaxy S25 to support Qi2 Wireless Charging
Samsung just recently announced the date for the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, where the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra will be launched. Along with this, Samsung has also confirmed that its upcoming Galaxy S25 series will support the new Qi2 wireless charging.
However, Samsung hasn’t directly named the devices but stated that Galaxy devices will support the new Qi2 wireless charging standard starting in 2025. It suggests that the Galaxy S25 lineup will be the first to feature Qi2 as this premium series is about to launch.
The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which develops the Qi standards, mentioned that Samsung is ready to bring Qi2 to Android devices, starting with its Galaxy phones in 2025. Google is also helping develop the next version of Qi2, which could bring even faster charging speeds in the future.
Qi2 is an upgraded version of the current wireless charging standard, Qi. It brings a few important improvements, including faster charging speeds of up to 25W, compared to the 15W maximum on current Samsung phones. This means your phone will charge faster when using a Qi2 charger.
Moreover, Qi2 also includes magnets that help align the device perfectly with the charger to make charging more reliable and efficient. This feature is similar to Apple’s MagSafe system as it is based on MagSafe.
However, it’s still unclear if Samsung will use the magnetic feature for attaching accessories, or just for faster charging. Previous leaks suggest that it will mainly focus on faster charging speeds, which means users may need to buy a separate magnetic case to use accessories.
Samsung has also started preservation for Galaxy S25 series phones, if you are interested in buying, you can reserve to get $50 Samsung Credit and much more.
