One UI 7 Now Bar

Samsung has released One UI 7 beta 3 for Galaxy S24 series users and the company has reshuffled the Now Bar settings compared to Beta 1 and 2 with some new changes.

Now Bar is a new One UI 7 feature and its unique capability of showing key information takes system notifications to the next level. It supports some system apps that refresh in the background and now bar keeps you updated with its progress.

For example, you can start the stopwatch and send it to the background. Thereafter, a live counter will appear on the status bar.

You can tap on this counter to expand its view. Furthermore, live notifications also appear on the notifications panel.

These live notifications turn into now bar when you see them on the lock screen. It sits between the shortcut buttons at the bottom. It contains live controls for different Now Bar widgets such as the Music app.

Despite its unique functionality, One UI 7 still has limited apps with Now Bar support. Still, it has dedicated settings in the lock screen to enable or disable individual now bars.

However, One UI 7 Beta 3 has changed the way the Now Bar setting integrates with previous beta releases. Here’s what’s changed.

New Changes

The top side now has a large image section, highlighting the now bar on the lock screen. The menu has the following description.

“Check the information you need right now and start essential features without unlocking your phone”

It has a new “Live notifications” label for the app and services management, which you can enable/disable via switches.

New Now Bar settings listed only five apps and services including:

  1. Interpreter
  2. Clock
  3. Emergency sharing
  4. Media player
  5. Current mode

These Now Bars are removed from the settings

  • Voice recorder
  • Health
  • Google maps
  • Samsung Notes
  • Bixby

Despite removal, these Now Bars are still working but cannot be disabled from the settings.

These are the new changes in Now Bar settings tagged with One UI 7 beta and we can expect more of these with a future build.
