One UI 7.1 to bring AI Call Summaries feature to Galaxy phones
Samsung‘s upcoming One UI 7.1 may introduce a new AI feature to Galaxy phones, Call Summaries. This feature will allow users to get a quick summary of their phone calls without having to listen to the whole long/short conversation.
It is worth noting that the Call Summaries feature is similar to the one already available for voice recordings in the Samsung Voice Recorder app.
The Call summaries feature has been spotted in an APK teardown of the Samsung Voice Recorder app version 21.5.70.78 via Android Authority. The code found in the app shows that Samsung is working on adding this call summary tool to its Galaxy phones.
With One UI 7 beta update, Samsung added a call transcription feature that supports transcribing both voice recordings and calls. Now, the stable One UI 7.1 update is expected to extend the feature to the addition of call summaries.
The call summary feature will reportedly work by first transcribing the phone call. After a call ends, the conversation will be transcribed into text. Then, using AI, Samsung will create a summary of the call’s important points. With this, users can quickly understand what was discussed without going through the entire call recording.
While the transcription and summary will usually be processed online, there’s an option to keep everything on your device for privacy. This option ensures that your data won’t be sent to the cloud, and everything will stay private on your phone.
Notably, AI transcriptions are sometimes not perfectly accurate. Samsung is already working to keep improving this technology to make sure the summaries are correct and useful.
One UI 7.1 update is expected to debut with the Galaxy S25 series. Several reports leaked that it will bring several new features and enhancements, focusing on Galaxy AI.
