Samsung is working on an AI-powered wallpaper system that would work according to weather, time, and season. The company has recently got approval on a patent that reveals plans for the Galaxy’s upcoming wallpaper engine.

As spotted by 91mobiles, Samsung is developing an AI wallpaper system that changes the background based on the time and weather of the day (dawn/morning/afternoon/evening/night).

The patent document suggests that the system can also detect weather and change the background to sunny, foggy, cloudy, rainy, or snowy and that’s not it.

If there’s a chance of rain, the AI-powered wallpaper system will also push out an alert like “carry an umbrella” so you won’t face difficulties outside in case the rain starts.

It will be functioned with the power of Generative AI. The wallpaper system will support a pre-defined prompt that will read out the image/background and identify the areas where time/weather changes can be applicable.

It will generate a modified image with the changes to the original and apply the new background screen. The process of wallpaper background alternation is briefly described in the patent document published by the authority.

Photo Ambient Wallpaper is already available but Samsung’s imagining is beyond that. The new system, once ready for mobile devices, will change the entire wallpaper with the current time and weather visuals.

Samsung will make the feature available on compatible devices in the future. At present, the system is just limited to patent papers without any mention of a release date. The next versions of One UI 7 could adopt the new wallpaper engine feature.
