Rumor: Huawei making 2nd Tri-Fold, with Samsung still watching from sidelines
Huawei is already working on the 2nd Tri-Fold phone as Samsung staying away from the market. Despite the US restrictions, Huawei is not stopping innovating as rumors surface about the development of 2nd tri-fold is quite shocking.
Weibo leaker FixedFocusDigital claimed that Huawei is working on a successor to its triple-screen foldable. The company may unveil its next tri-fold shortly as Huawei Mate XTs that would be powered by its own Kirin 9020 chipset.
Back in November, it was revealed that the Korean tech giant is working on a tri-fold Galaxy phone. Samsung Display has already showcased a prototype device, but the commercialization and market debut remains a mystery.
The tri-fold Galaxy is said to feature a dual inward-folding hinge. The different design approach will allow for an independent external screen. This redesign will enhance the phone’s usability and multitasking capabilities.
Last year, Huawei launched the Mate XT Ultimate Tri-Fold foldable smartphone. Unlike the regular Note style foldable, the Mate XT brings a dual hinge design, which allows the display to be folded twice, offering a tablet-size screen view.
Samsung may have been preparing to reduce focus on foldable phones. It comes after the entry of Chinese phone makers into the market apart from lower-than-expected sales. Huawei seems to be planning to broaden its edge before Samsung’s entry.
Foldable is a future plan but Samsung is all set to launch the S25 series later this month. In addition, a thinner Galaxy S25 model could be teased, that would have a Galaxy S25 Plus-like size and specs in a thinner design.
