Samsung foldables may see more innovation in 2026
Samsung is working on around four foldable phones to launch this year. The legacy model will continue to arrive and there will be two additional models. Meanwhile, Samsung foldables may be more innovative in 2026, not in 2025.
According to TheElec, Samsung may not significantly upgrade the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7. The reason could be the arrival of two additional models, including one cheaper Flip phone and the second-generation Fold Special Edition.
That said, Samsung foldables may get more innovative upgrades in 2026. The production estimation for this year suggests that the company is focussing more on bar-type phones than the foldable segment due to sluggish sales.
The Korean tech giant continues to innovate its foldable smartphone lineup. The company has also adopted the waterdrop hinge technology, significantly reducing the thickness and quashing the middle-part gap on both Flip and Fold.
With no upgrades on the cards, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 may retain most of the hardware aspects of their predecessors. The design may get marginal tweaks and the processor would be upgraded to a newer generation for sure.
The Galaxy S25 series will use Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset that may also power the next Fold model. For the newer Flip phones, Samsung is planning to use Exynos 2500 and Exynos 2400 to cut costs and revive the Foundry business.
Exynos 2500, which was slated to debut with the Galaxy S25 series, would feature in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The Galaxy S24 series’s Exynos 2400 could power the affordable Galaxy Z Flip FE, which is rumored to launch in H2 2025.
