Chinese phone makers are now aggressively boosting battery capacity on flagship phones. The smartphone batteries will always keep room for improvement and looks like Samsung and Apple started working on it.

According to the info, Samsung and Apple may adopt new technologies to increase the capacity of next-gen smartphone batteries. The company is reportedly considering the use of new materials such as high-silicon to ramp up capacity.

Compared to conventional materials, high-silicon features a larger capacity per unit weight.  It will not only increase the battery capacity but also maximize charging speed. There’s a race in the industry on which brand will adopt it first.

It is said that the South Korean tech giant is directly taking part in the “development of battery materials such as anode and cathode materials,” while aiming to develop completely new battery units to power future Galaxy devices.

It is rumored that Chinese vendors will fuel 7000mAh and 8000mAh batteries in smartphones, starting next year. The firms are aiming to improve capacity while keeping the overall thickness intact or even reducing further.

This would surely make an impact on Samsung and Apple’s position. While capacity doesn’t directly account for battery life, a larger cell would always have an edge. Therefore, battery upgrades on the hardware level would be a requirement in the future.

Samsung’s flagships are capped at 5000mAh capacity, while Apple has also reached approx a similar level. On the flip side, Chinese companies are releasing phones with even bigger batteries that will become a standard in 2026.
