Samsung taps Chinese firm for Galaxy Z Flip 7 hinge
2025 has begun and many new products will join the Samsung ecosystem. While the Galaxy S25 series is coming later this month, Samsung is already working to finalize hinge suppliers for new foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7.
According to TheElec, Samsung inked a deal with Chinese firm Huannli for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 hinge. The next-generation foldable phones will be unveiled in the latter half of this year, while developmental preparations are already underway.
It is reported that China-based Huannli has been selected as the first vendor for Z Flip 7 hinges. KH Vatec is facing inevitable setbacks in its business, rendering it the second vendor after leading the supply chain for a few years.
Notably, Huannli’s market share exceeded 50% for the hinge of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. This year, Huannli would secure over 70% of the total volume, given the shift in priority, with KH Vatec’s position would also impact in the market.
For the Galaxy Z Fold series, KH Vatec still holds the lead in the hinge market. KH Vatec was the first vendor for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 hinges released last year, although Esconnex supplied a small portion of the hinges for the Z Fold 6.
After a brief boom, Samsung’s foldable phone sales became sluggish in the global market. Durability still remains the biggest concern, leading people to prefer conventionally designed phones over improved foldable phones.
Samsung is also working on an affordable foldable phone to be released this year. The Galaxy Z Flip FE is expected to be launched in limited quantity alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the second-generation Z Fold SE.
