Micron will be the primary supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series DRAM (Dynamic RAM). The new flagship lineup is set to be launched in late January. Now, inputs about the potential components suppliers started to reveal.

According to the info, Samsung will source most Galaxy S25 series Dynamic RAM from Micron. The company is sidelining its own memory subsidiary given technological advancements in the DRAM produced by Micron.

Micron is set to supply its LPDDR5 DRAM for Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series. Micron had been a secondary vendor for the mobile DRAM in the Galaxy series for over a decade but has now become the primary supplier.

The South Korean tech giant is likely to hold its Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22 in San Jose, California, where the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra will be officially revealed, ahead of the general release in early February.

Well, Micron hasn’t easily considered the primary supplier as Samsung’s MX Division made the final choice after comparing performance, price, and other overall requirements.

This suggests that Samsung’s DRAM tech needs immediate recovery. The company is already facing intense competition from Micron in the HBM market.

In 2024, Samsung developed the LPDDR5X that supports the fastest operating speed, 10.7Gbps, and started mass production of this memory chip on the 1b process in the second half itself.

Meanwhile, Micron became the first in the world to develop LPDDR5X with the 10-nanometer-class 1b process in 2022 and later supplied it to Apple’s iPhone 15 series.
