Samsung and Google’s new Eclipsa Audio technology to debut in 2025 TVs
Samsung has collaborated with Google to develop a groundbreaking 3D technology, Eclipsa Audio. This technology will be available in Samsung’s 2025 TV and soundbar models, including Crystal UHD and Neo QLED 8K. It promises to enhance home entertainment by delivering dynamic and immersive sound experiences.
Eclipsa Audio works with IAMF (Immersive Audio Model and Formats) technology, which adjusts the sound to fit the device and the environment, creating a 3D sound experience. It focuses on the position, intensity, and reflection of sounds.
IAMF is an open audio technology developed by a group of companies, including Samsung, Google, Netflix, and Meta. It is now being shared with content creators for free to help improve multimedia experiences.
Samsung will be the first company to showcase this technology at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, unveiling a TV with Eclipsa Audio. The new technology allows content creators to produce rich, immersive audio that Samsung TVs and soundbars will deliver to users. This feature will be available across the entire 2025 TV lineup, from budget-friendly models to the high-end Neo QLED 8K series.
In addition, Samsung plans to support IAMF technology through a dedicated YouTube app so that users can enjoy 3D audio content directly from their TV. The company is also working with Google to create an IAMF audio certification program to set high standards for devices using Eclipsa Audio.
Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business Division said:
“At CES 2025, we will present the possibilities of next-generation immersive audio technology through Neo QLED TVs equipped with 3D audio technology. We will establish a new audio standard in the industry through IAMF technology.”
