Task Manager: Samsung One UI 7 redesigns background apps
Task manager has been a core One UI feature since the very beginning and Samsung has made several upgrades over the years to simplify its access, now One UI 7 took it two steps further with a more intuitive transformation.
Task manager performs different actions and helps you see all background apps. You can manage these apps by closing them one at a time or altogether.
You can open apps in a split-screen or pop-up view within the task manager. So, a lot is going in there for people who love multi-tasking.
One UI 7 has brought an intuitive touch to this feature, targeting a better background app management experience. We don’t want to stop exploring this feature here, so let’s a deep dive into the redesigned task manager.
What’s new in One UI 7 Task manager
The animation to send the app in the background is smoothened compared to One UI 6 and it’s a lot faster.
The task manager gesture is also optimized with a new animation that will reveal the app activity cards in unstacking movement. It shows the last opened app on top and the previous apps in the background.
The previous One UI version brings a carousal taskbar, you can change apps with left and right slides. One UI 7 also has the same motion but with more dynamic back-and-forth movement between left, middle, and right background app positions.
It appears that the new animations are fully polished with the 120Hz refresh rate and increased touch responsiveness.
Multi-tasking
The task manager retained its features from the version and you can tap on an app icon to reveal the following:
- App info
- Open in split screen view
- Open in the pop-up view
- Keep open
You can also carry out the tap-and-hold operations for fast split-screen or open app in the pop-up view. Moreover, the split screen toolbar is also placed on top of the split-screen and pop-up app view.
As usual, you can swipe up to close a background app activity, swipe down to open or tap “Close all” to terminate all background app processes.
Below the task manager, you will see recommended apps, which you tap and open at any time.
Task manager could be customized with the settings menu, you can remove the suggestions and widen the app activities view.
Conclusion
Though One UI 7 doesn’t expand features, it improves all-around interactions and how you manage the background apps.
