Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could be untraceable when powered off
Samsung Galaxy S25 may lack the Pixel 9-like Find My Device feature to be traceable when powered off. Leaked evidence suggests that the upcoming flagships would miss out on a key feature that Pixel phones have.
According to AndroidAuthority, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra may not support Find My Device while powered off. It is found that the device hardware declares ro.bluetooth.finder.supported=false, indicating the lack of support.
Google Pixel 8 and 9 series bring an offline finding feature through Find My Device. The company has designed a dedicated mechanism to utilize the phone’s Bluetooth and location proximity data from nearby Android devices.
This way, a lost or stolen Pixel device pinpoint the location, greatly improving its reliability and accuracy. It also helps others find their lost or stolen devices as the device will securely utilize nearby Androids to leave traces.
Meanwhile, Samsung will offer SmartThings and Find support. SmartThings is a rapidly growing platform and Samsung Find allows you to find your Galaxy devices offline, however, tracing ends as soon as the device powers off.
Recently, many key information about the Galaxy S25 series has been revealed. The S25 Ultra would have a panel with 3000 nits peak brightness. A faster and more reliable memory chip, UFS 4.0, is also expected to be used across the S25 phones.
Samsung will likely unveil the Galaxy S25 series on January 22 next year. The first official teaser may drop anytime soon in 2025. The Galaxy Unpacked is rumored to be held in-person in San Jose, the same venue as the S24’s Unpacked.
