I am not criticizing the Galaxy S25 Ultra or iPhone 16 Pro Max looks, but Samsung and Apple need fresh designs

As we head for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra launch on January 22, 2025, everyone is excited about the new device. However, from the latest leaks, it looks like we will see the same thing again. The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s design is just like the Galaxy S24, S23, and S22 Ultra – it all feels a bit too familiar.

Now, let’s not get me wrong; I’m not here to criticize how the Galaxy S25 Ultra or the iPhone 16 Pro Max look; they just seem to stick to the same old design patterns. So far, both of these devices look premium to me. However, there’s a growing sense among Galaxy users, myself included, that we need more than just internal hardware upgrades to explain an annual upgrade.

Why there should be a new design? When your current phone’s still working great and Samsung promises 7 years of software updates, there’s less reason to buy a new one unless it looks and works differently. Right?

Samsung’s always been great at making powerful phones with amazing cameras and screens. But, the look of the Galaxy S phones hasn’t changed much. They keep the same shape, camera setup, and screen (mostly) style each year.

Apple does the same with the iPhone 16 Pro Max; it’s nice but not new. It’s like watching the same movie with a tiny twist – good, but predictable. Didn’t like it?

A new design isn’t just about changing colors or edges; it’s about thinking differently about using our phones. Samsung’s foldable phones were a big step. Why not bring some of that creativity to the flagship S series?

I’m not saying the current designs are bad – they look great. But we need designs that get us excited. Everyone is moving fast, but phone designs seem to be stuck in the past.

Even if the inside of the phone doesn’t change much from year to year, a fresh design could make it feel new. It’s not just about looking different; it’s about using your phone in new ways. We want to feel like we are stepping into the future, not just taking a small step forward.

In the end, I am not saying the Galaxy S25 Ultra or iPhone 16 Pro Max look bad, but it’s time for Samsung and Apple to try something new with design. Let’s hope our next Galaxy S25 Ultra isn’t just more of the same but something exciting and different.

We’re looking forward to upgrades that feel like an adventure into something fresh, not just another lap around the old track. Stay tuned to SammyFans.com for the latest on how Samsung is pushing design forward.
