Samsung Galaxy S25 is the next year’s Galaxy S series, which is reportedly going to launch in early February. This upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 may support the new Qi2 wireless charging standard, but there’s a catch.

Qi2 includes a feature called Magnetic Power Profile (MPP), which uses magnets to help align your phone with chargers. At the moment, it’s not clear that the Galaxy S25 will have this feature built-in.

Introduced nearly two years ago, Qi2 is based on Apple’s MagSafe technology, which has seen limited adoption outside of Apple’s iPhone lineup. However, Samsung seems to change that with its upcoming flagship Galaxy S25 series.

Notably, Qi2 uses magnets to make sure your phone is perfectly lined up with the charger, which helps charge it faster and more efficiently. However, for a phone to support Qi2, it needs to have magnets inside.

The Galaxy S25 is expected to support wireless charging up to 15W with Qi2, but it may not have the magnetic alignment system built-in. Instead, Samsung could offer a separate “Magnet Case” that will add magnetic alignment to the phone.

Recently, Magnetic cases for the Galaxy S25 series leaked that support Qi2 support. These cases may let you use Qi2 accessories like wireless chargers, power banks, and other magnetic accessories.

This is similar to what OnePlus did with its OnePlus 13, which doesn’t have Qi2 built-in but works with a first-party case that adds magnetic alignment. So, if you want to use Qi2 accessories with your Galaxy S25, you’ll probably need to buy Samsung’s Magnetic Case. Stay tuned for more information.
