Samsung Galaxy S24 One UI 7 Beta 4 release

Samsung One UI 7 update introduces a new feature called filter notification, which will help reduce notification clutter on Galaxy phones. The new feature is now available with the One UI 7 beta 2 update. It makes it easier to manage less important notifications and keep your notification panel cleaner.

Several apps send notifications that aren’t important, like ads or background activity alerts to stop apps from being closed by the system. These kinds of notifications can quickly fill up the notification panel and make it hard to focus on more important alerts.

One UI 7 update aims to fix this by grouping these less important notifications together at the bottom of the screen. For that, Samsung adds a Filter Notification feature with the One UI 7 Beta update.

The new feature was spotted by a Reddit user, FragmentedChicken, in the latest One UI 7 beta on a Galaxy S24. It can be found in Settings >> Notifications >> Advanced settings. Once turned on, the feature will filter notifications into different categories to make it easier to see what really matters.

When notifications are filtered, an “X more notifications” card will appear at the bottom of the notification panel. Tapping on this will show the filtered notifications under a “more notifications” section.

There are three types of notifications you can filter:

Old notifications

  • Notifications received a few days ago that are no longer relevant.

Background activities

  • These are from apps like KDE Connect that keep sending alerts to prevent the app from being closed by Android.

Minimized notifications

  • Notifications you’ve manually collapsed or minimized in notification category settings.

By grouping less important notifications into a separate section, One UI 7 makes it easier to focus on the important ones without distractions. If you are testing the beta update on your Galaxy S24 smartphone, check and try the new notification feature now.
