Samsung eyes revival with Exynos 2500 despite 5% market share
Samsung Exynos enjoyed just 5% share in the Mobile SoC market in Q3 2024. Samsung is eyeing the revival of its chipset business with the Exynos 2500 in 2025. Well, the product is unlikely to be featured in the Galaxy S25 series.
According to Digitimes, Samsung kept 5% market share in the Mobile SoC market in Q3 2024. After the cancellation in the S25 series, Samsung plans to revive the chip division by debuting Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in 2025.
At present, the flagship SoC market seems dominated by Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek. Samsung’s presence is even greater than the 5% share but the saturation of its Exynos 2400 isn’t that wide as S24 Ultra gets Snapdragon internationally.
Chinese phone manufacturers are increasingly favoring MediaTek’s Dimensity chips, benefiting from a dual advantage: they secure these chips at discounted prices while also leveraging TSMC’s advanced process nodes.
The Korean tech giant’s Foundry Division faced many hurdles with its cutting-edge 3nm process node. The production yield didn’t reach the threshold, leading it to be delayed until the fabrication started on a mass scale.
The Galaxy S25 series will exclusively use Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The latest foldables; Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Fliip 6 also pack Snapdragon chips. The Exynos 2400 is only used in the flagship S24 and S24 Plus in some regions.
Korean media predicted that the next year’s Flip phones could be equipped with Exynos 2500 chips. The company may debut two Flip phones in the latter half of 2025 i.e. the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and an affordable Galaxy Z Flip FE.
