Samsung One UI 7 Software Update UI

Samsung dropped a big hint that the One UI 7 may elevate haptics in key areas. The company confirmed through a US community moderator that the suggestions of Beta participants are sent to the development team for consideration.

The Galaxy S24 series uses a pro-grade vibration motor to offer stunning haptic feedback. The company has made slight tweaks to its latest software. Samsung may improve One UI 7 haptics further based on community users’ feedback.

Here’s a closer look at insightful suggestions that could make navigating our Samsung devices feel even more intuitive and satisfying.

1. Back Gesture Haptics in One UI 7:

If Samsung applies the user-demanded haptics, the haptic feedback for the back gesture would add a distinct haptic response when canceling a back gesture—two quick, tiny “bzz” sounds.

2. Quick Panel Haptics in One UI 7:

Pulling down the quick settings panel could add a single, clear haptic feedback when this action is performed to confirm that the panel has been activated without needing to look away.

3. Slider Adjustments in One UI 7:

Adjusting sliders for volume or brightness could get a slight “haptic bzz” throughout the adjustment process, which is something Google applied in the Android 16 Developer Preview.

4. App Drawer Opening in One UI 7:

A haptic feedback is also requested to be added to the opening of the app drawer. It is aimed at making the transition from the home screen to the app drawer feel more seamless.

5. Switching Apps in Recents in One UI 7:

The request also mentions the addition of haptic feedback while switching between apps in the recent apps menu to provide a sensory cue each time you swipe or tap to change apps

So these are the areas where you can expect haptic feedback enhancements in the next Beta updates or final version. Do note that the development team may not deploy all the changes given the stability and efficiency of the devices.

One UI 7 Beta 3 may roll out today for the S24 series. The company may unveil the final version on January 22 in the US. The rollout roadmap could also be shared for eligible devices, with general availability expected in Q1 2025.

Community moderator’s comment:

Thank you for sharing these thoughtful suggestions from the One UI community on X! It’s great to see such detailed feedback about haptic feedback enhancements, which could further improve the user experience.

We appreciate how you’ve outlined specific use cases, like enhancing the back gesture haptics, adding feedback for actions like pulling down the quick panel, and even incorporating subtle vibrations into app interactions like switching between apps or adjusting sliders. These ideas align with efforts to make the interface more intuitive and engaging.

We’ll be forwarding your suggestions to the development team for their consideration. While we can’t guarantee immediate implementation, feedback like this is vital in shaping future updates and features. Please continue sharing insights from the community—they’re incredibly valuable to us!
