Samsung One UI 7 comes with Large Folders, a unique feature that helps you to organize the home screen apps and enables fast interactions.

Samsung’s Android UI has app folders for a long time. It allows you to group your apps and sort them from an entire gallery. This feature is pretty helpful when you have to place favorite apps in one place or group those that serve a similar purpose.

A great example of such functionality would be baking apps, you can make a folder of such applications and store them in a folder. This way, you don’t have to find them in the app drawer and it will pace up your interaction by saving time.

This feature was great and users still appreciate it. However, One UI 7 takes it to the next level and makes it more effective.

A large folder is an upgrade, which means, it’s based on the app folder but you can now enlarge a folder for broader access.

Once enlarged, the folder not only improves visibility for consisting apps but also allows you to launch any app without opening the folder first. The large folder can show 8 apps max but you can open the folder to reveal the entire collection inside.

How to use large folders

Create a folder (if you already have, skip this step)

  • Tap and hold an app and drag it over to another to create a group
  • You can add more apps to this folder
  • Rename the folder for an identifier

Future improvements

The large folders will simplify the home screen and remove clutter for Samsung One UI 7 users. However, there are some improvements that the Korean tech maker can make to improve this feature.

To suggest, Samsung should bring more layouts to large folders including small (1 row) and large 6 or 8-column style.

However, we’ll have to wait for future software updates for the next major change in large folders.
