Different styles
To see Now Bar in action, open clock, and start stopwatch or timer. Now lock and wake the device to see the now bar. It is placed in the bottom of the screen between the two shortcut buttons.
It has a pill shape background consisting of key information such as app icon, timer and pause/resume button. This information and controls will vary based on the app and service.
For example, the Music app will have an album art avatar, title and playback controls.
Stack
The lock screen can show different now bars simultaneously in stack mode. For example, start the timer and stopwatch together and visit lock screen.
Tap and swipe up on the Now Bar to send it in the background and bring the other one in the front. You can continue to swap these with the same gesture.
Expansion
Despite being a tiny pill shape, you can expand Now Bar into a full size widget. One tap on top of the Music Now Bar can turn it into a lock screen widget.
It has wider features such as shuttle, favorite, media output selection, timeline management and a larger album art. Interestingly, Now Bar expansion style and elements varies for each app or supported system service.
Managable
The list of supported Now Bar apps is limited and you can manage them from the settings by going into Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Now bar.
Here you can select, which app will appear in the Now bar. Tap on the slider in front to enable or disable that field. We may the support list increased in the near future.
Closure
Now Bar is connected to apps and services and you have to close them to disappear from the lock screen.
For example, when you start a stopwatch, make sure to turn it off. Or, it will still appear on the lock screen. You can do this by expanding Now Bar with a tap (to maximize) or visit the clock app.
This functionality will differ for differnt apps. For example, Samsung Health will show you count steps until you finish the workout.
