Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s anti-reflective screen allegedly failing
Samsung missed the opportunity to aggressively market the one of its kind anti-reflective screen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The upgrade has allegedly gone from shine to shame as users report Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s anti-reflective screen is failing.
Corning launched Gorilla Armor for Samsung flagships, which debuted in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The next-gen screen glass is exclusively used in the S24 Ultra. It significantly reduces screen glare, making the display look way more vibrant than others.
The panel reduces glare to offer a visible display even in direct sunlight. It is a major upgrade that makes a wide gap with predecessors. The screen glass is also more durable and scratch-resistant than the previously used Gorilla Glass solutions.
The anti-reflective screen seemingly failing on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Owners of the device report complaints about the coating’s “wear and tear.” It is making a major impact on the screen appearance and reducing the anti-reflection feature.
Zaryab of xeetechcare posted an image of his S24 Ultra, showing the screen that appears to be a coating issue or smudges. This fierce condition of the glass highlights a potential flaw with the display’s coating.
The problem doesn’t seem to be limited to just a single user. X user piyushbaid95 also expressed his concerns about the anti-reflective coating on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s display wearing off, leading to increased glare and reflections.
Scratches and minor smudges are a general concern on smartphone screens. However, it’s a worse situation on the S24 Ultra as that anti-reflective coating has started to ruin the edge that the phone secured within a short period of time.
Samsung also launched anti-reflective glass as an accessory but the panel itself must maintain its status. Scratches appear different than the wear and tear marks apart from smudges that are exposing the inner layer that’s reflecting.
Interestingly, Samsung India has reached out to address the issue, asking for further details via DM to investigate and resolve the concern. The company should offer proper support and replacement if it is a quality issue with the panel.
