Official: Samsung is killing DeX for PC with One UI 7
Samsung has announced a big change in how you can connect your Galaxy phone to your computer. Starting with One UI 7, Samsung Galaxy phones will no longer support Samsung DeX for PC. Instead, Samsung is notifying users to switch to Link to Windows, which lets you wirelessly connect your phone to your Windows PC.
If you are using a Galaxy phone running One UI 6.x, Samsung DeX for PC will still be available. But with One UI 7, Samsung will no longer provide support for this feature. This shows that Samsung provides a more useful tool, Link to Windows, that makes it easy to use your phone and PC together.
Link to Windows feature allows you to do many things directly from your computer. You can make calls, reply to text messages, and use apps on your PC without picking up your phone. Moreover, it has a helpful feature that shows your Recent Apps and Recent Websites, which lets you quickly access the apps or websites you’ve recently used on your phone, directly from your computer.
However, there are a few things that Link to Windows doesn’t support, which were available with DeX for PC. These include Full-Screen Mode for apps and using a USB connection between your phone and PC.
One UI 7 update aims to make it easier and more convenient to stay connected across your devices with the Link to Windows feature, however, it is ditching the Samsung DeX app support.
