Samsung confirms termination of Edge Panel downloads with One UI 7
Samsung has officially confirmed that with the rollout of One UI 7, users will no longer be able to download Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store. The company issued a notice to inform Galaxy users about this change.
In the official notice, Samsung provides details about how existing users will be impacted and what alternatives will be available, after the termination of Edge Panels download from Galaxy Store.
After updating to One UI 7 on your Galaxy device, Edge Panels will no longer be available for download from the Galaxy Store. However, if users have already downloaded Edge Panels before the update, they will still be able to access them in the “My Apps” section of the Galaxy Store.
Notably, if users choose to uninstall these Edge Panels, they will not be able to re-download them. This change also applies to devices that are pre-installed with One UI 7. It means that new users or those with newer devices will not be able to access the panels through the Galaxy Store.
For devices that haven’t been updated to One UI 7 yet, users can still download Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store. However, Samsung’s notice shows that Edge Panels are not available for larger screen devices like the Galaxy Fold phones.
If users have downloaded Edge Panels on their older devices, they will still be able to transfer and install them on new devices running One UI 7 or later, as long as they access the panels through the “My Apps” section of the Galaxy Store.
However, it is not yet confirmed whether Samsung has fully discontinued Edge Panels on devices or if users will only be able to use the ones already installed on their phones. With the One UI 7 beta coming soon, more details will likely be revealed. Stay tuned for further updates.
Samsung has launched One UI 7 with new Galaxy AI features including advanced writing assist tools to help you write better text content with different personalization options.
This new feature is deeply blended into the One UI operating system and provides different options when you opt for help from an on-device large language model (LLM). These options will only be highlighted when you select a text from on-screen content.
For example, when you open a web page and select a piece of text, the screen will pop-up the editing menu including the Galaxy AI icon at the start. Tap on that to open the writing tools card.
This menu card has six options including:
- Spelling and grammar
- Writing style
- Summarize
- Bullet point
- Composer
Let’s get to them one by one.
Spelling and grammar will check these two sections in the selected content and correct mistakes to show you a well-written version.
The writing style will rewrite the selected content in different tones including formal and other. You can change these tones to check a different version of the same text.
Summarize will work according to its name and it’s quite useful to understand large content such as an entire page in a few or maybe one paragraph.
Bullet points on the other hand break down the large paragraphs into small bullet points to improve readability and comprehension.
Composer helps you to write content based on a description. You can pre-define tone and other parameters within the same command.
Samsung One UI 7 AI Writing Assist Tools (Source – Samsung)
Generative AI
The writing assist tools are part of the advanced Galaxy AI capabilities and are currently available with One UI 7 beta on Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. The feature will expand to other Galaxy AI eligible devices as the beta program progresses.
However, it may not be available for non-Galaxy AI devices due to low computing power.

Knox Matrix
For future security, Samsung uses multi-layered intelligent threat monitoring to protect connected devices with the Knox Matrix feature. The new dashboard lets users easily monitor the security status of all their Samsung smart devices, from Galaxy mobiles to TVs and home appliances. When all devices are secure, they show up as ‘green’ on the dashboard.
One UI 7 simplifies data recovery with Enhanced Data Protection, allowing users to transfer recovered data to new devices using the lock screen verification of their previous device.
Moreover, the update introduces passkeys for faster, safer logins to Samsung accounts and other connected devices using the fingerprint sensor on smartphones.
Maximum Restrictions
One UI 7 offers enhanced controls for network connections, which allows users to block 2G services and prevent automatic reconnection to potentially unsafe Wi-Fi networks. This ensures that data remains private while providing the option to connect manually.
This update improves Maximum Restrictions to allow users to remove location data in shared photos, prevent automatic attachment downloads and block hyperlinks, previews, and shared albums.
Safe Install
One UI 7 introduces the Safe Install feature to protect against malicious apps that come from sideloading. It works alongside Auto Blocker to warn users if they try to download apps from unauthorized sources. This helps prevent accidental installation of risky apps.
Advanced Theft Protection
Samsung’s One UI 7 enhances Theft Protection with features exclusive to Galaxy devices. It includes the Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock. The new Identity Check feature safeguards your data if your PIN becomes compromised.
If suspicious activity is detected, extra protections are activated. In unfamiliar locations, changes to security settings require biometric authentication, and a one-hour delay prevents unauthorized changes to your device.
Overall, One UI 7 takes your security to the next level with advanced security features in an AI-driven world. One UI 7 Beta will be available for the Galaxy S24 series in limited countries from December 5. The official One UI 7 release will start with the next S series, Galaxy S25.
Samsung has officially announced the One UI 7 beta rollout with new AI features including the new call transcript, which provides transcriptions for recorded phone call conversations.
Samsung phones already have a call recording feature for a long time but providing a transcription enables a whole new level of productivity for users.
To use this feature, you must have the call recording enabled inside the call settings. Then, a transcript will be generated automatically with the call recording in an ongoing call.
After the recording is completed, expand a contact card with a tap and see “View recording and transcript”. Tapping on that will open a new screen with a transcript.
It will show you turn-by-turn conversations and play transcripted words and paragraphs for both sides. It will show you playback controls and the recording’s timeline.
As the recording progresses, the transcription will highlight the current conversation status on the screen to let you know where the conversation currently is.
After a review, you can copy the conversation and make notes via the Notes app or any text editor.
These transcripts are associated with the contact, you can check their history by opening the contact and pressing next to check previously recorded conversations. The taskbar has the option to search the previous conversation in case you want to ease the process.
Samsung One UI 7 Call Transcript (Credit – Samsung)
Supported languages
The new One UI 7 call transcript feature launched in 20 supported languages with the beta program. These languages could expand as Samsung moves toward a stable release.
iOS
Apple unveiled a call transcript feature with its Apple Intelligence, and it rolled out for iPhones with iOS 18.1. The feature is very much identical to what Samsung has brought with One UI 7 beta but there’s is a mere difference.
Prior to iOS 18, Apple had no call recording feature for iPhone users and it is only bundled with the latest iOS to facilitate the AI-powered transcription.
Availability
This new feature is only available for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series with One UI 7 beta. Customers must have to wait for further expansion of this program to access the new capabilities.
