Samsung Galaxy S25 Release Date: What We Know So Far

Published

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

As someone who has been deeply involved with Samsung’s Galaxy series and One UI software for years, I’m excited to share the latest rumors and confirmed news about the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 series. Let’s dive into what we can expect about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series and the release dates.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Release Date:

Samsung has a tradition of starting the year with a bang, and its Galaxy S series usually takes center stage at these early-year events, known as the Galaxy Unpacked event. Before we talk about the Galaxy S25 series launch event, here are the launch dates for the past five Galaxy S series:

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 Series: It was announced on January 17, 2024, and released on January 31, 2024.
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Series: It was announced on February 1, 2023, and released on February 17, 2023.
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Series: It was announced on February 9, 2022, and released on February 25, 2022.
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 Series: It was announced on January 14, 2021, and released on January 29, 2021.
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 Series: It was announced on February 11, 2020, and released on March 6, 2020.

These dates give us a pattern to predict the Galaxy S25’s announcement date. Based on the current rumors, it seems like Samsung is gearing up for an even earlier announcement for the Galaxy S25 series. According to the latest rumor, we could see a possible unveiling on January 22, 2025, at the Galaxy Unpacked event. This would keep up Samsung’s tradition of leading the smartphone market right from the start of the new year.

What’s the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event?

The Galaxy Unpacked event is Samsung’s primary venue for announcing new devices, particularly from the Galaxy series, which includes smartphones, tablets, and wearables.

These events are held to unveil Samsung’s latest flagship devices, especially new Galaxy S series smartphones, foldable phones like the Z Fold and Z Flip, and sometimes other products like the Galaxy Watch, Buds, and occasionally tablets or laptops.

Samsung typically holds Galaxy Unpacked events twice a year. The first is usually in January or February, focusing on the Galaxy S series, while the second occurs in late summer, often around July or August, when foldables, watches, and sometimes other devices are introduced.

In 2024, the first Galaxy Unpacked was on January 17, when Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 series. The second event was on July 10, 2024, where the company unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and Galaxy Buds3 series.

These events are often live-streamed on Samsung’s official website, YouTube, and other social media platforms, allowing global audiences to watch the announcements in real time.

What to Expect from the Galaxy S25 Series:

The Galaxy S25 series is likely to feature rounder corners, with the Ultra potentially having the most significant design changes including a new camera module design for dust resistance. Under the hood, the S25 series is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

The S25 Ultra could introduce a new 50MP ultra-wide sensor, enhancing low-light performance and detail capture. On the software side, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to come with Android 15-based One UI 7. The S25 series will support up to 7 years of software support.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Pricing:

Like the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S25 might come with a similar price point or see a slight increase due to the advanced technology. The base model of the S24 started at around $799, with the Ultra variant at $1,299. With the Galaxy S25 series, we could see the S25 base model around $849, with the Ultra possibly reaching $1,399.

Samsung Good Lock One UI 7 Beta

Samsung’s One UI 7 Beta update is currently available for the Galaxy S24 series, bringing a fresh design and new features. However, Beta testers are facing issues with Good Lock as certain Good Lock modules are not working properly after the One UI 7 Beta. Here’s why these apps are not working.

Good Lock app lets Galaxy users change various parts of the phone’s interface, like the lock screen, quick settings, themes, and multitasking features. But with the new One UI 7 Beta, some of its customization features aren’t working as expected. This is because Good Lock modules are not yet fully compatible with the new Android 15-based One UI 7 Beta software.

Samsung has acknowledged these incompatibility issues and confirmed that some popular apps, including Good Lock, are unavailable or not functioning well in the beta phase. This is because the apps need time to be updated for the new software.

Moreover, a Samsung community moderator has assured users that the compatibility issues will be fixed in the stable version of One UI 7, which will be available soon. It means that Good Lock modules will work properly with the stable update.

Notably, the Good Guardian app recently received support for One UI 7. However, it is not confirmed yet whether it works properly with the Beta update. Users can expect a smoother experience once the final update is released.

For now, those using the One UI 7 Beta on their Galaxy S24 should be prepared for some limitations with Good Lock. But once the official One UI 7 update arrives, these issues will be resolved, and users can enjoy the full customization options of Good Lock. Stay tuned for more information.
