One UI 7 Developments

Samsung One UI 7 has made much progress over the past few months. The company is on the verge of releasing the Beta Program, while the Stable rollout is scheduled for early 2025. This page consists of the key progress and developments of the Samsung One UI 7 update, powered by the Android 15.

1. Endless Delay

Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7 Beta was assumed to start in late July or early August. The company has planned a major change in its software schedule; pushing the Beta to the “end of the year” and Stable to “early next year” release.

2. Tons of One UI 7 rumors

During the July and August period, there were a lot of rumors about One UI 7. The Internet was filled with screenshots and clips taken from the new software. But, the reality is, that One UI 7 is still not available, even on the Beta channel.

3. SDC24 – The first official appearance

Back in August, Samsung confirmed SDC24 to be held in early October. Following endless delays in Beta, it was assumed that the SDC stage would bring key details to the table. Samsung did exactly that but stretched the endless wait for One UI 7 further.

Samsung officially announced that the One UI 7 focuses on a design philosophy, aiming to be:

  • Simple. Aiming for purposeful simplicity across the UI.
  • Impactful. Creating a new signature impression for One UI.
  • Emotive. Creating UI elements, like a new blur engine, that elicit a positive emotional response from users.

The software was teased briefly, bringing a brand-new interface and revamped icons. CodeLabs variant was made available for SDC participants. It filled the internet again with One UI 7 images and videos – but everything won’t pen out.

4. Fresh new look to the entire interface

Samsung’s Sally announced at SDC that the One UI 7 will bring a fresh new look to the entire interface. It was proved when a handful of screenshots and video clips popped up online, displaying various design changes compared to the CodeLabs model.

“We’re exploring a brand new UX design,” Sally said. “One UI 7 will bring a fresh new look to the entire interface,” she added.

During internal testing, the One UI 7 significantly revamped the user interface components such as Quick Settings and Notification Panel. The typography is also refined to match the brand-new looks and appearance of Samsung’s Android 15 update.

5. Icons redefined

One UI 7 has made drastic changes in icons of apps including Samsung Phone, Samsung Messages, Samsung Internet, My Files, Gallery, Calculator, Samsung Cloud, Samsung Contacts, Settings, Samsung Camera, Samsung Clock, and FM Radio.

I still believe all of the current icons won’t live on until the Stable release. As soon as the Beta kicks off, consumers will drop their feedback. Samsung Notes app’s icon is already on most users’ radar, and more likely to appear during Beta.

6. Beta builds spotted

Earlier this month, Samsung uploaded the first One UI 7 Beta on its firmware server. It was spotted on November 12 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra in the US and Europe. It was a significant development as we eagerly anticipate the Beta to be announced.

7. One UI 7 elements land on Galaxy Books

Samsung dropped some One UI 7 design elements on Galaxy Book laptops. The Galaxy Book Experience app has adopted a handful of new design components derived from the upcoming One UI 7 software with its latest update.

8. Apps and Services welcoming One UI 7

One UI 7 Beta could start soon as Samsung apps and services are getting ready. Many apps displaying in-app notices, revealing potential changes in One UI 7 such as the separation of Deco Pic from Camera and the renaming of AI Emoji to Galaxy Avatar.

One UI for all

Wrapping up! As the Beta is coming way too late, I wish for a seamless testing activity. Samsung should take some more time in evaluation before dropping the first Beta to avoid the least chance of device brick and functional faults.

Galaxy AI upgrade freeze

It is rumored that the full-fledged Galaxy AI update will only release with One UI 7.1. That said, the One UI 7 focuses on interface and design changes. AI-powered features will be introduced in new flagships and some will be expanded to older ones.

One UI 7.1 could come with AI Summary and AI Emoji features. A system-wide Galaxy AI integration is also in demand by Samsung users. This way, Galaxy phones will seamlessly function with all the AI-powered bells and whistles.

Samsung One UI 7 Beta

Owners of the Galaxy S24 series have joined the One UI 7 Beta Program. Samsung dropped the One UI 7 Beta 1 in four countries last week. Now, Samsung’s Beta participants are awaiting the release of One UI 7 Beta 2.

The first Beta lets users experience the brand-new software. Beta Program brings early access to smoother animations, fluid, and natural transition effects, new Galaxy AI features, and software innovations from Samsung.

One UI 7’s first Beta has some bugs that should be addressed soon. The company has also acknowledged some consumer complaints about the Beta firmware. We expect a pretty improved experience with the second Beta update.

When to Expect the One UI 7 Beta 2

  • Expected to be released on December 16.

One UI Beta hasn’t yet launched in India and Poland. Previously, the One UI 7 Beta was rumored to start on December 12 in India. Meanwhile, Samsung delayed the Program’s expansion without revealing the reason.

Now, the Beta Program is scheduled to be kicked off on December 16, 2025. It is expected that Samsung will drop the second Beta for initial Beta participants around the One UI 7 Beta expansion to the consumers in the remaining markets.

One UI 7 Beta 2 – What to expect?

  • Smoother animations, fluid transitions
  • Enhanced performance and lesser app incompatibility
  • Bug fixes and overall user experience improvements

Samsung will improve the animation and transition effects in the next Beta updates. Galaxy users can expect smoother and more natural system animations in the second Beta. However, the overall improvements will be included in the final version.

The lock screen blur system is also buggy in the initial Beta update. The overall design is just stunning but the notification cards on the lock screen skip adapting the same blur effect, leaving the overlay colored White with transparency.

Some Good Lock modules and Android Auto are not compatible with the One UI 7 Beta. The software has gained support for Good Guardians. The app incompatibility will be addressed with further Beta updates gradually.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Users rating 1 star for Samsung Members app on Galaxy Store

Samsung India has called for a delay in the One UI 7 (Android 15) beta program launch. This decision led to community-wide disappointment among Galaxy S24 users and a sudden backlash.

The One UI beta program enables Galaxy smartphone users to test the latest software features ahead of the full (stable) release. On December 5th, the phone maker opened this beta activity for US, German, and Korean users.

Models from the Galaxy S24 series – standard, plus, and ultra can sign up for the beta program via the Samsung Members app to download the beta software.

Besides these three markets, Samsung also announced an expansion to India and Poland. The beta software for India markets was projected for December 12th, confirmed by the customer service representatives.

“The Galaxy S24 series Beta UI 7 update is expected to be released on December 12th,” replied Samsung India in a customer query chat.

Earlier today, the company modified this information, informing customers that the date has now changed to December 16th.

Samsung has shared no reason behind this delay, leading to a disappointment shower from Galaxy S24 users.

Some Galaxy S24 owners in India even reached the Google Play and Galaxy Store to mark a 1-star rating for the Samsung Members app to show their disappointment with the One UI 7 beta delay.

“Samsung India, your negligence and disregard for Indian customers is appalling. You promised us timely software updates, but instead, you’ve left us in the dark. The delayed One UI 7 Beta rollout is a slap in the face to loyal customers like myself.” wrote a user while rating the Samsung Members app on December 12.

“India waiting for One Ul 7 beta for a very long time and u keep postponing always it’s not fair at all so half star in behalf of all users,” wrote another.

The majority of Galaxy owners allege Samsung is not prioritizing Indian users for One UI beta program despite the large user base. Meanwhile, the company has yet to respond on this matter.
