After a brief pause, Samsung starts rolling out the new One UI 7 update to the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and Z Fold SE. The initial release was initiated on April 7 in South Korea, and it expanded to Europe and the US on April 10.

Meanwhile, Samsung had to temporarily suspend the expansion due to a serious bug found on some Galaxy S24 models. The company has investigated the issue and addressed it two days prior to resuming the distribution.

The Galaxy S24 series has recently received the One UI 7 BYD9 update, which is now also heading to the Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and Z Fold SE in South Korea. As it’s a phased rollout, it will be expanded to even more markets sequentially.

The update changelog of the latest build just mentions improved system stability. The package weighs around 380 megabytes, hence, it’s considered a Stable Hotfix. The April 2025 security patch is also included with the new firmware update.

Over the past two months, Samsung has been facing a lot of criticism for its semi-partial transparency over One UI 7 and the rollout delay, but now, it is publishing a new advisory for all eligible device users.

• Update schedule and eligible models could be changed if we encounter any issues through ongoing review
• The update may also be halted for a while even after the official update when an emergency fix is occurred.
• We will notify through Samsung Members if there are any schedule or model list changes.

It seems Samsung has learned from the recent backlash, and it is reflecting on these lines of text. Still, look at the halt part, where the phone maker has clarified that the update could be paused in case of any bug that might appear after official OTA release for a device.

So, if you witness another pause, Samsung won’t be responsible for anything because it has already told us what could go wrong, and you must have to wait for the software to get fixed.

For now, the Korean tech company has resolved the rollout issue and resumed One UI 7 upgrade for S24 series, Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. It will continue to expand from this day forward.

This new build marks the resumption of the suspended rollout. As a Galaxy user, I am disappointed, though Samsung deserves praise given a quicker investigation and resolution to the serious glitch encountered by many.

The changelog mentions “stability improvements” for the Galaxy S24 series. It’s a Stable Hotfix update that is currently making its way to devices that have been upgraded to the initial One UI 7 Stable update after April 7 in Korea.

It was reported that the initial One UI 7 update had some serious issues with the unlock functionality that led the company to suspend the expansion. As the One UI 7 rollout has resumed with BYD9 build, users can now expect a swift expansion globally.

To recall, Stable One UI 7 builds disappeared from the firmware server over the last two days. Exynos models were initially affected in South Korea, but the entire rollout has been halted for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6.

Your Galaxy device may have also received the new build. Notification will arrive late, but you can manually check for the updates within Settings > Software update. Hit Download and install so your phone can fetch a new OTA.

After One UI 7, Samsung has reportedly started preparing One UI 8 internally, which will be based on Android 16. Some rumors, leaks, and hands-on previews have already appeared, revealing new features and enhancements. Now, new information reveals that One UI 8 will bring fresh Samsung Gallery features through Gallery Labs for Galaxy devices.

Gallery Labs is a hidden menu inside the Gallery app that lets users try experimental features. These tools are usually not available to everyone, but Samsung allows people to test them early through Gallery Labs.

Right now, Gallery Labs in One UI 7 only offers a few options, like adding a search tab. But with One UI 8, Samsung is reportedly bringing more tools to Gallery Labs. These include:

AI Zoom

• This feature uses artificial intelligence to improve image quality when you zoom in on small photos. It helps make the zoomed image look clearer.

Mirror Screen Mode in View

•  This lets you change how your images are displayed on the screen.

Show Full Address in Details

• This feature shows the complete address of where the photo was taken, which is helpful for Galaxy users.

To access Gallery Labs, you just need to open the Samsung Gallery app, tap on the Menu, then go to Settings, and tap About Gallery.  Now, tap the Gallery version number 7–10 times until a message says “[Labs] Gallery labs is enabled.” Then, go back to Settings, and you’ll find Gallery Labs at the bottom to enjoy new features.

These One UI 8 testing features will make the Gallery app smarter and more useful for Galaxy phone users.

Samsung’s One UI 8 to bring Log Video feature to more Galaxy devices

Samsung Galaxy S23 owners who were targeting the One UI 7 update on April 22 may be disappointed with the latest development. The company apparently adjusted the release date as the device disappeared from the release chart.

Earlier, Telus confirmed to release the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S23 series on April 22 in Canada. Now, the devices are no longer listed on the release schedule, hinting at a potential delay in the update’s availability in the country.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series, the Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6 are also reverted to February dates when they received new security patches. These devices have started getting One UI 7, but the company has temporarily suspended the rollout.

The first wave devices will soon receive a hotfix update, and the rollout will be resumed as well. However, the suspension of initial deployment is likely to affect the second wave models, including the Galaxy S23 series and Z5 series foldables.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with One UI 7

One UI 7 will be the second major upgrade for the Galaxy S23 series. The lineup was debuted with Android 13-based One UI 5.1 in early 2023. Samsung has provided Android 14 with One UI 6 and plenty of Galaxy AI features with One UI 6.1.

The second OS upgrade is significantly late for all Samsung users. However, things may not be the same with the One UI 8 as the development is running in full swing and testing is underway on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6.
