Apple Intelligence

iOS 18.1 has started rolling out, bringing the first batch to Apple Intelligence features. iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series models are eligible for AI tricks. iOS 18.1 is set to rival Samsung’s Galaxy AI with Apple Intelligence in the market.

Although the full version of Apple Intelligence may take some time to launch, some features are now available, including Smart Reply, Smart Summary, and writing tools that can proofread, summarize, and rewrite text across the OS.

iOS 18.1 will be available for iPhone models supporting iOS 18, including all iPhones from the iPhone XS and iPhone XR up to the current iPhone 16 models.

Apple’s iOS 18.1 supports spatial photo capture for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max and adds the existing spatial video capture feature in the new Spatial Camera mode.

Adding to this, new connectivity controls for Satellite and AirDrop have been added to the Control Center, allowing these buttons to be added individually.

Call Recording: iOS 18.1 makes it possible to record phone calls on your iPhone. However, it will notify the second party via announcement that the call is being recorded.

Samsung has been supporting the Call Recording feature on Galaxy devices. Its availability varies by market, but it’s quite useful if used positively as it doesn’t announce call recording notifications.

Samsung vs Apple – AI Distribution

Samsung debuted Galaxy AI with the S24 series earlier this year. Apple announced AI-powered Siri and some other features at this year’s Developer Conference. Samsung’s AI expansion is taking place rapidly, while Apple’s lagging badly.

Mid-range Galaxy users received some AI features like Circle to Search. At the same time, Apple is keeping its Apple Intelligence feature suite limited to Pro models of the iPhone 15 series apart from the recently released iPhone 16 lineup.

OnePlus quietly beats Samsung and Google with Gemini on the lockscreen

Gemini advanced yearly plan

OnePlus has surprised everyone by being the first to get a new Gemini AI feature, even before Samsung and Google’s own Pixel phones. The new OnePlus 13s smartphone comes with a special Gemini shortcut on the lockscreen, which is not yet available on Samsung’s latest Galaxy phones or Pixel devices.

Samsung recently replaced Bixby with Gemini as its default assistant in One UI 7. Usually, Samsung phones get new Google AI features early. But this time, OnePlus has taken the lead.

On Galaxy phones, you can set Gemini as a lockscreen shortcut, but it asks for your fingerprint or face unlock when you tap it. But on the OnePlus 13s, you can open Gemini directly from the lockscreen without needing to unlock the phone. You just need to set the ‘Digital Assistant from Google’ as a shortcut on lockscreen.

Google might add this feature to Pixel phones with the final Android 16 update. But for now, even the beta versions don’t have it. Samsung’s One UI 8 beta also doesn’t include it yet. It is expected that it will soon arrive on Samsung devices too in future updates.

Besides this smart AI shortcut, the OnePlus 13s comes with powerful features. It has a 6.32-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a large 5,850mAh battery, and 80W fast charging. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and features a 50MP main camera. The phone is priced at ₹54,999 (around $641), making it a strong competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S24.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra S Pen

Samsung Galaxy phones may soon get a new AI assistant, and it could be a big change for users. According to a new report, Samsung is in talks with a fast-growing AI company called Perplexity. If the deal is confirmed, Perplexity AI could come to Samsung devices, giving strong competition to Google’s Gemini AI.

Perplexity is an AI assistant that many people say is faster and gives amazing results. Some even feel it works more smoothly and feels smarter. Perplexity has already teamed up with Motorola, and now Samsung might be next.

Samsung’s plan is to bring a Perplexity app to Galaxy smartphones and other devices. It could first appear later this year, possibly with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 phones. By next year, Samsung may even offer Perplexity as a default assistant option on the Galaxy S26 series.

Right now, Samsung works closely with Google. Gemini powers many AI features on Galaxy phones, like Circle to Search and smart tools. Samsung even lets users launch Gemini with the side button on the Galaxy S25 series and other One UI 7-based devices. But now, Samsung seems ready to offer more choices.

Perplexity Samsung

Samsung has already invested in Perplexity through its investment arm, Samsung NEXT, last year. So this move has been in the works for some time. If the deal is finalized, Samsung users might get Perplexity as a pre-installed app or be able to choose it during phone setup.

Through this, Samsung aims to give users more control over which AI assistant they want to use. With Perplexity possibly joining the Galaxy lineup, users could soon have a strong alternative to Gemini AI. Stay tuned with us for more information.

Gemini AI’s text sharing to get a much-needed upgrade

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra S Pen

If you’ve ever tried to copy and share something from Gemini AI, you probably know it’s not easy to do. Right now, it takes several steps just to highlight and share a simple response. You have to tap on a menu, go to another screen, and only then can you select the text. Thankfully, Google is working on a much-needed upgrade for text sharing on Gemini AI.

In a new beta version of the Google app, a new feature has been spotted that will make text sharing much easier. The new feature has been spotted by AssembleDebug (via Android Authority).

You’ll soon be able to just long-press or double-tap on the Gemini response to start selecting text. This means no more navigating through menus or going to a different screen just to copy a sentence.

There’s one small problem, though. This new method doesn’t work well if the response includes a list, like bullet points or numbered steps. If that’s the case, you’ll need to either select each item one by one or ask Gemini to rewrite the response without the list. Once it’s in paragraph form, the new sharing feature works just fine.

Notably, the update for Gemini AI’s text sharing is under testing, so it might take some time before it reaches all users. This new feature will save time and make the whole experience smoother. Keep an eye out for it in your next Google app update.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Gemini

Samsung users can now enjoy new features with Google’s Gemini Live, which now supports camera and screen sharing. These tools were first shown at Google I/O 2025, and they are now rolling out to more Android phones, including Samsung devices.

Gemini AI assistant provides helpful, personalized, and accessible information. You can access Gemini on Samsung devices with the side button. Feature such as Gemini Live works great on Samsung devices with a wide integration for system applications. Now, the Gemini Live is getting more useful with new camera and screen sharing features on Samsung devices.

If you’ve a Samsung device, you might have already seen a prompt saying, “Share your camera or screen with Gemini Live.” When you enable this, two handy buttons appear during your Gemini Live sessions. These options make it super easy to share what’s on your screen or through your camera.

You can even start sharing right from the Gemini overlay, no matter which app you’re using. The amazing feature is that while you’re chatting with Gemini Live, you can scroll through apps or websites, and Gemini will use what it sees to give you better answers and help.

Notably, your phone will give a little vibration before it starts sharing to notify you that the sharing has started. You can stop sharing anytime by pulling down the notification shade.

When using the camera, a viewfinder pops up on your screen, letting you switch between the front and back cameras with a tap. Google recommends moving the camera steadily for the best results. Remember, your screen needs to stay on during sharing, as it won’t work if you turn it off.

iPhone and iPad users will also get these features soon, but Samsung users are among the first to try them out. If you are using a Samsung phone, try the new features now.

Samsung Internet update disables AI features on unsupported Galaxy devices

Samsung Galaxy Internet browser Beta v28

Samsung Internet Browser app recently received a new update, causing disappointment for users with budget Galaxy phones. Samsung has removed the AI-powered features of Samsung Internet, Browsing Assist, from unsupported Galaxy devices.

AI features, like text summarization, Read Aloud, and translation, were previously available on some unsupported Galaxy devices. Now, the Korean tech giant disables these AI Samsung Internet features on several low and mid-budget phones.

Some users had found a way to unlock these AI tools on cheaper Galaxy phones, even though these features were meant only for high-end devices. But with the new update to Samsung Internet version 28.0.0.59, those users noticed that the features stopped working, spotted by @Fezuzbek_101.

Notably, the update was mainly about fixing bugs and improving the app’s stability. But it seems that it also removed the workaround that allowed these AI tools to be used on unsupported phones.

It’s unclear why Samsung decided to do this, but one reason might be to make sure that these AI features are only available on premium phones. By keeping Browsing Assist exclusive to high-end devices, Samsung can offer something extra to customers who buy their premium models.

Even though these AI features don’t need powerful hardware to work, Samsung might want to make sure that only people with premium Galaxy phones have access to them. This way, Samsung can make its premium phones more appealing.

If you’ve already managed to unlock Browsing Assist on your budget Galaxy phone, it’s best to skip the latest update if you want to keep using these features. While Samsung has not officially explained the change, many users are frustrated by the removal of these useful tools on their lower-end devices.

For now, it looks like Browsing Assist will remain exclusive to Samsung’s premium phones. However, Samsung may expand this AI feature with the next major update. Stay tuned for more information.
