This is big news for Pixel fans who will likely get the first chance, but Samsung Galaxy users? Well, we are still waiting for the party to start.

While Google is speeding ahead, Samsung’s One UI 8, built on Android 16, hasn’t even hit the beta stage yet. According to rumors, the beta program could start in late May or early June, with the Galaxy S25 series expected to be the first to test the One UI 8 features.

After the messy One UI 7 rollout, which was hit by delays and a nasty lock screen bug, Samsung is trying to catch up with One UI 8 testing, as several internal beta builds have leaked already. The stable One UI 8 might not drop until July or August, possibly alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.

What’s the holdup? Samsung’s likely working on every big and small point/feature to avoid another fiasco like One UI 7, which only hit devices in April 2025 after months of beta testing.

We could see smoother animations, a refined UI with blur effects, and more Galaxy AI goodies with One UI 8, but don’t expect a massive overhaul. It’s more like a polished (not big) version of One UI 7.

For now, Samsung fans need to sit tight. Keep an eye on the Samsung Members app for beta sign-ups, but don’t hold your breath. Google’s ready to drop Android 16, and Samsung’s scrambling to keep up.
