Samsung smartphones comes with a power saving mode, while you may find this feature common in all of the smartphones across the globe, the One UI 7.0 has made it more customizable.

Android and iOS devices has a power savings mode for a while, but you may only get to option to enable or disable this feature. By default, smartphones limit background processes such as network usage, synchronization, location as well as reverting the high refresh rate to 60 Hz and you may not be allowed to customize the power saving mode.

However, Samsung devices give you more control over the power saving, with additional limits to save the battery. You can enable this power saver from quick settings or battery setting. Below, you can check additional power saving settings from One UI 6.x:

• Turn off Always on Display
• Limit CPU speed to 70%
• Decrease brightness by 10%
• Turn off 5G
• Limit apps and Home screen

You can control these option with the button in front.

Moving on, One UI 7.0 device users will now see three new additional power saving limits, including:

• Set motion smoothness to standard
• Turn on Dark mode
• Set screen timeout to 30 seconds

The refresh rate was used to disabled automatically during power saving mode, but you can now choose its limitations. Similarly, Dark mode and screen timeout also help to preserve the power.

If you want to go for max power efficiency, enable “Limit apps and Home screen”. It only allows selected apps, limits all background activity, turns off Edge panels and enables Dark mode.

In case you would rather not use any of these additional power saving perks, use the button in front to use the system’s default power usage limits. When you disable the high refresh rate option, the 70% CPU limit will also fall down automatically. Try additional power saving limits by going into Settings > Battery > and Power saving.

One UI 7.0 comes with new lock screen and home screen personalization features including effects, and some of these will only appear when you choose a certain type of wallpaper.

This feature uses some of the device’s smart intelligence to spot a difference between a background only wallpaper or a portrait of a person or animal. I like to use scene backgrounds instead of a portrait in my Galaxy devices, which shows only four effects:

• Blur – Applies a blurred layer on top of the wallpaper
• Grayscale – Applies a gray layer on top of the wallpaper
• Colors – Applies a color layer on top of the wallpaper
• Dark – Darkens the wallpaper with a color tone

When you select a portrait as a wallpaper for the lock/home screen, the phone unlocks more effects, specifically targeting the background layer:

• Blurred background – Blurs the background layer
• Grayscale background – This will turn the background grayscale
• Custom background color – Set a color in the background
• Ink drawing background – Turns background layer into an ink drawing
• Pastel background – Turns background layer into a pastel theme
• Oil paint background – Applies an oil paint effect to the background

These extended effects will only appear with a portrait image. Notably, their impact on the appearance is much better than just simple plain blur.

For example, I used a cat portrait and cropped the image to use it as a lock/home screen wallpaper. Once applied, the difference between blurred background and blur effect becomes highly visible, which highlights the subject. Similarly, other background effects improve the overall wallpaper outlook.

To remind, these One UI 7.0 wallpaper effects don’t work on stock wallpapers and images, you must use an image captured or downloaded in your device.

Samsung is getting ready to launch the One UI 8 Beta Program, which could begin around late May or early June 2025. Before the official release, a new internal test build has been spotted online, giving us a preview of a new animation for the Now Bar music player.

A video shared by @Topraks9plus shows the new Now Bar animation in the internal test version of One UI 8. When you open the music app, the Now Bar animation appears much smoother and more attractive than it does in One UI 7.

In the video, the most noticeable change is the blur effect that happens when the Now Bar opens. This gives it a more polished and fluid look.

Currently, in One UI 7, the Now Bar animation is basic and lacks the extra visual polish that users might expect. The new animation in One UI 8 is a big improvement, which makes the overall experience feel sleeker and enjoyable.

Samsung is clearly focusing on enhancing the existing feature with One UI 8. The smoother, blurred animation in the Now Bar shows that the company is paying attention to small details that improve how users interact with their phones.

Aside from the music animation, the same internal build revealed new animation for quick setting toggles and notification opening in the Notification panel.

Samsung is rapidly optimizing One UI 8 Beta for the Galaxy S25 series. Just recently, Samsung uploaded a fresh build on its software server. It comes after the company outlined its plans to deploy Android 16 this Summer.

One UI 8 Beta is still under testing, but some users have access to that build. Thankfully, we’re getting aware of many tweaks, changes even ahead of Public Beta. X user Toprak confirmed the rollout of the new ZYEJ build for the S25 Ultra.

Screenshot shows the update weighs 877 megabytes for the S25 Ultra. It should have included system stability and functional improvements. Samsung is also working to stabilize animation tweaks before it starts the Public Beta.

A new Now Bar Music Player animation has been spotted in the ZYEJ build. More information about the latest internal Beta is expected to emerge. These are finishing touches to the new OS ahead of landing on consumer units.

At The Android Show: Google I/O 2025, Samsung announced Android 16 is coming to Galaxy devices this summer. The new foldables will likely boot the new OS-based One UI 8 with upgraded Galaxy AI features.

As the stable build is coming this summer, Samsung will likely kick off a public Beta Program for existing devices on a prior date. Rumors point to a late May or early June timeframe for the One UI 8 Beta to launch for the S25 series.

Samsung is reportedly developing a Generative AI-powered Image to Video feature. A future version of One UI would introduce this video generation tool. Honor’s early launch of this feature sparked discussion across the internet.

Recently, X tipster PandaFlashPro revealed that Samsung is working on an Image to Video feature, leveraging Generative AI. It comes after Honor’s Image to Video feature, which is set to debut with the new flagship next week.

One UI will likely utilize Google Gemini’s GenAI video generation capabilities. While the feature details aren’t disclosed, Samsung’s Image to Video feature should rely on Gemini. It will turn static images into a short video clip.

Samsung has Google have a close partnership in ecosystem optimization. Samsung debuts new Wear OS versions and features like Circle to Search, and Google proudly flaunts Galaxy devices (rather than its own Pixel) to showcase new features.

That said, Samsung and Google would have already been working on the development of the Image to Video generation tool. Foldables are coming this July, and the S26 series will land sometime in January next year with One UI 8.5.

Last year, Samsung introduced the AI-powered Sketch to Image feature. It’s built within the Drawing Assist kit, which lets you turn hand-drawn sketches into realistic images.

Image to Video should also function similarly. Depending on the input provided, the video clip will be generated based on AI, machine learning, and probably text inputs for relevant output.
