Samsung has started a wide One UI 7 software rollout in different regions, while the majority of the users are rejoicing this moment, the rest are getting stuck during the download phase.

Users shared this download problem online and how it stopped for minutes and hours. Some are stuck at the initial stage, some half-way and some at the very end around 80% to 90% download.

Device owners have reported that the update stopped downloading after a certain percentage and time. On the other hand, a few of them noted that it took hours to automatically resume the upgrade. Meanwhile, the S24 series users are met with a download error message while fetching this new update.

What’s causing this issue?

The closest reason for such issues would be mass downloads. Samsung has released this update in many countries all-together, and massive download requests maybe jamming its servers.

Though, the Korean tech giant uses some of the most advanced technologies, but this issue uncovered another flaw in its software support. For now, Korea tech company has not shared the exact reason for this issue.

Here’s what you can do if you are facing download issues

Pause and wait for the update to restart

If your One UI 7 download is stuck, wait for the device to queue the device’s online upgrade request to the server. This may take a few minutes or hours.

Pause and restart the phone

You can pause the download and restart the phone, and then retry again. You can try this 1–2 times to see if that could make a difference.

Use smart switch

If you haven’t started download, please consider using Smart Switch. It’s not only used to transfer your data, but it is also a great way to update your phone’s software.

You need to download Smart Switch on your PC or Mac and connect your device via in-box USB cable. Let the phone synch with the server, and it will pop up a software update on the screen. Compared to smartphone, the desktop could help you to get more stable download and installation.

If the issue persists, keep on trying to download until it resumes.

App Size and Widgets

Home Screen layout

However, you can set it to Home screen only, which will remove the app drawer and all apps will appear on the home screen.

Your phone may have the old school navigation buttons, but One UI 7.0 keeps your access to navigation gestures available all the time. These gestures increase interaction speed and efficiency all over the software.

To enable Swipe gestures – Open Settings > Navigation bar > Swipe gestures. You can optimize gestures by tweaking gesture sensitivity.

Samsung has set the default screen timeout to allow you a decent time to operate the phone without dimming the display and eventually locking the device.

You can increase the display time from 15 or 30 seconds to 1 minute or maybe more according to your preference by entering Settings > Display > Screen timeout.

Vertical app drawer

One UI 7.0 comes with a vertical app drawer, and you can enable this orientation from the default horizontal version.

To use this, open App Drawer and tap on the three dots on the right side inside the search bar. Select Sort and choose Alphabetical order.

Unified quick settings

Samsung has changed the way you used to access quick settings by separating both notifications and quick settings. However, you can switch back to the legacy quick settings with the following instructions:

• Open Quick settings
• Tap on edit
• Select Panel Settings
• Select Together

Now Bar and Live notifications

These two are the most innovative One UI 7.0 features and keep you posted with the latest information via lock screen and home screen.

Edge panel

This feature is a great tool for holding your favorite apps in one place. You can change the edge panel handle with a tap and hold action on either side of the screen.

If you want to personalize an edge panel, go to Display > Edge panels or turn it off completely.

Auto-restart

Besides auto optimizations, the device also lets you set an auto-restart, which helps the phone to run smooth by shutting down all of the background processes and purging memory. You can select a schedule or time from the settings.

Despite the fix, download problems persist for some users. It’s being claimed that Samsung’s servers might lack the capacity to handle global updates simultaneously. However, there’s no denying that poor network conditions as a possible cause.

For now, affected users can try again later or check their network connection. The company has not yet addressed this latest issue, but users remain hopeful for a quick resolution to enjoy the new One UI 7 features.
