Pre-release One UI 8 testing expands to Galaxy A lineup

Samsung is currently testing an Android 16-based One UI 8 Beta on the Galaxy S25 series. It is expected that the company will soon expand this update to more Galaxy devices. Several flagships are already testing One UI 8 internally, and now, the latest Galaxy A series phone, the Galaxy A56, has joined them.
According to information via tipster @tarunvats33, the first One UI 8 testing build has been spotted on the Samsung Galaxy A56 smartphone. The build is A566BXXU4BYF7, and it is currently appeared for the European variant.
This first build indicates that One UI 8 testing is underway for the Galaxy A56. The company will release this major update for the device ahead of several other Galaxy smartphones.
However, it is not confirmed whether this Galaxy device will get a beta or not. Previously, Samsung Galaxy A55 users were able to try out One UI 7 features through a beta update. But several reports claim that One UI 8 Beta testing could be available for limited devices.
Even now, only Galaxy S25 series users are testing the new features through a beta program. Several flagships like the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 users are still waiting for the Beta Update. In the coming days, we will get to know about Samsung’s plan. Notably, the company already confirmed that One UI 8 Stable will debut with Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 at the Galaxy Unpacked Event in July 2025.
Samsung Galaxy A56 is the latest Galaxy A series smartphone, which comes with several Galaxy AI features and offers seamless updates. One UI 8 will be the first major update for this smartphone. And it is eligible for six major OS updates.
One UI 8 will bring several new features to this Galaxy A series phone and make it smarter. Stay tuned for more information.

Samsung One UI 8.5 – Release Date, Eligible Devices, Features and Latest News

Samsung One UI 8.5
Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update may launch early next year with the new flagship phones. The company hasn’t officially confirmed the new version, but all signs point to a potential launch of Android 16-based One UI 8.5.
Samsung is reportedly working on an Android 16-based One UI 8.5 version. This mid-cycle update is shaping up to be a game-changer, reportedly launching with the Galaxy S26 series and skipping the usual One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 updates.
Samsung One UI 8.5
Let’s dive into everything we know so far—release timeline, devices that’ll get it, cool new features, and the hottest news straight from the rumor mill.
Release Date
Samsung’s keeping quiet on an official release date for One UI 8.5, but the rumor mill is churning. Based on leaks and rumors, I’m betting we will see it debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026, probably in January or February.
For older Galaxy devices, the rollout might kick off a month or two later, maybe March 2026. Samsung’s been stepping up its update game lately as One UI 8 Beta is already rolling out to devices like the Galaxy S25 series.
Eligible Devices
Since One UI 8, also based on Android 16, is set to hit foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in summer 2025, One UI 8.5 feels like a refined follow-up. I’m excited to see how fast Samsung pushes this one out!
Here’s a projected list of devices expected to receive One UI 8.5, based on current leaks and Samsung’s update commitments:
Galaxy S Series:
- Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE, S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S21 FE, S22, S22+, S22 Ultra

Features
Here’s what’s floating around in the rumor mill:
Galaxy AI:
One UI 8 is bringing AI goodies, and One UI 8.5 might take it up a notch, especially for the S26 series with its modern Exynos and Snapdragon chips. I’m hoping for smarter photo editing and AI-powered functionalities so iPhones may feel outdated.
Customization:
Android 16 is all about flexibility wth Material 3 Expressive, and Samsung might lean into that with new lock screen widgets, slicker themes, or better ways to tweak your home screen. I’m hungry for personalization features, so this one has got me excited.
Smoother Vibes:
One UI 8 already feels snappy even in Beta, with smoother animations. Early Geekbench scores for Galaxy devices running One UI 8 are promising, and One UI 8.5 could make your phone feel like new; fingers crossed for zero lag!
Foldable-optimized UI:
With the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 launching on One UI 8, I’m betting the One UI 8.5 will fine-tune multitasking for foldables. An earlier leak mentioned a bigger cover display on the Z Flip 7, so maybe we will see UI tweaks to make it shine.
Security Boosts:
Google’s Android 16 update has got cool stuff like post-theft lockdown, and Samsung is likely to double down with its own Knox-powered features. Privacy is a big deal, and I’m curious to see what the Galaxy maker adds here.

One UI 8 Beta is coming: Galaxy S24, S23 and S22 roadmap rumored

Samsung may expand One UI 8 Beta to Galaxy devices next week, starting with the S24 series. The first device expansion would cover 2024 flagships, including the Galaxy S24 series and foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6.
A new rumor sheds light on a possible One UI 8 Beta roadmap for the Galaxy S24, S23, and S22 series. These flagship Galaxy S lineups would be accompanied by Fold and Flip models launched in the same year for the Beta Program.
June Week 4
- Galaxy S24 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6
The rumor suggests that the S24 series, Fold6, and Flip6 owners will be eligible for the One UI 8 Beta Program next week. However, no details were shared regarding the scale of the Beta Program in terms of eligible countries and slots.
End of June
- Galaxy S23 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5
Galaxy S24 and foldables might mark the Beta expansion, but Samsung might not make older flagships wait much. The popular Galaxy S23 series may be invited to the Beta Program by the end of June alongside Z Fold5 and Flip5.
Early July
- Galaxy S22 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4
Once the S24 and S23 series join One UI 8 Beta this month, Samsung’s next aim will be the S22 series, and the Z Fold4 and Flip4. These phones are expected to join the Android 16-based One UI 8 Beta Program in early July this year.
In late May, Samsung officially launched the One UI 8 Beta Program. It’s currently available for just the Galaxy S25 series. Beta Program will indeed expand, but the company hasn’t provided any specific rollout timeline for older devices.

One UI 8 isn’t ready for Samsung Galaxy tablets but here’s a glimpse

In late May 2025, Samsung started rolling out the One UI 8 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series, giving users a chance to try new features before the full release. But Galaxy Tab users aren’t able to enjoy these features yet. Samsung is still testing the update for tablets internally, but we now have an early look at what might be coming to tablets with One UI 8.
We now have a sneak peek at One UI 8 running on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. This early build (CYF3) gives us a good idea of what’s coming soon, thanks to @SammyGuru. Even though this version is still in testing, it shows some interesting changes.
One UI 8 for Galaxy Tablets
One UI 8 will reportedly bring a new blur effect to the Quick Panel and notification area. When you swipe down, the background stays slightly visible. This small change makes the screen feel more modern and smooth.

Moreover, this update also improves the My Files app. It now has a cleaner look and better folder layout. You can easily see which subfolder a file is in, thanks to clearer folder paths and a new layout. This makes it simpler to find and manage your files. This is quite helpful for people who use their tablet for work or school.

Even though this version is under internal testing, it’s clear that Samsung is working on making tablets feel more modern and easy to use. The features are similar to the phone version of One UI 8 but are designed to work better on a big screen.
Galaxy Tab users might need to wait a bit longer for the official beta, but these early changes show that exciting things are on the way. Stay tuned, more updates and improvements are likely coming soon.

Android 16’s Earthquake Warnings feel outdated over Samsung’s One UI 8

Samsung is adding a new earthquake warning system to its One UI 8 update, and it might be even better than the one from Google’s Android 16. While it’s still not live in the current beta version, @GalaxyTechie already spotted it, and it looks promising.
Just like Google’s system, Samsung’s earthquake alert can warn people just before an earthquake hits their area. It shows a full-screen message and plays a loud sound to alert you quickly. But Samsung goes a bit further by adding more helpful features.
Samsung’s earthquake alert feature lets users preview how the alert will look and sound, which can help people know what to expect. It also keeps a history of past alerts. Users can even choose how and when they want to get alerts based on the magnitude of the earthquake and the time of day.
Moreover, it can show nearby emergency shelters. The alert can also display your emergency contacts and medical info, which can be important for first responders during an emergency.

Google’s earthquake warning system is strong and works on many Android phones, but it doesn’t have all these extra features. It’s not clear why Samsung made its own version, but it might be for areas where Google’s service doesn’t work like China.
Still, Samsung’s feature looks like a great step forward. With features like emergency info, shelter locations, and preview options, it gives users more control and support during earthquakes. It would be great if Google added some of these tools to its version.
It is reported via a reliable tipster, @GerwinvGeissen, that Samsung’s Earthquake Warning feature may be exclusive to China, similar to Galaxy apps, including Smart Manager, Bixby Touch, and more.
For now, Samsung’s One UI 8 earthquake warning system is showing how safety alerts can be even smarter. It is expected that Samsung will soon make this feature available.
