One UI 8 Beta is coming: Galaxy S24, S23 and S22 roadmap rumored

Samsung may expand One UI 8 Beta to Galaxy devices next week, starting with the S24 series. The first device expansion would cover 2024 flagships, including the Galaxy S24 series and foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6.
A new rumor sheds light on a possible One UI 8 Beta roadmap for the Galaxy S24, S23, and S22 series. These flagship Galaxy S lineups would be accompanied by Fold and Flip models launched in the same year for the Beta Program.
June Week 4
- Galaxy S24 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6
The rumor suggests that the S24 series, Fold6, and Flip6 owners will be eligible for the One UI 8 Beta Program next week. However, no details were shared regarding the scale of the Beta Program in terms of eligible countries and slots.
End of June
- Galaxy S23 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5
Galaxy S24 and foldables might mark the Beta expansion, but Samsung might not make older flagships wait much. The popular Galaxy S23 series may be invited to the Beta Program by the end of June alongside Z Fold5 and Flip5.
Early July
- Galaxy S22 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4
Once the S24 and S23 series join One UI 8 Beta this month, Samsung’s next aim will be the S22 series, and the Z Fold4 and Flip4. These phones are expected to join the Android 16-based One UI 8 Beta Program in early July this year.
In late May, Samsung officially launched the One UI 8 Beta Program. It’s currently available for just the Galaxy S25 series. Beta Program will indeed expand, but the company hasn’t provided any specific rollout timeline for older devices.

One UI 8 isn’t ready for Samsung Galaxy tablets but here’s a glimpse

In late May 2025, Samsung started rolling out the One UI 8 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series, giving users a chance to try new features before the full release. But Galaxy Tab users aren’t able to enjoy these features yet. Samsung is still testing the update for tablets internally, but we now have an early look at what might be coming to tablets with One UI 8.
We now have a sneak peek at One UI 8 running on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. This early build (CYF3) gives us a good idea of what’s coming soon, thanks to @SammyGuru. Even though this version is still in testing, it shows some interesting changes.
One UI 8 for Galaxy Tablets
One UI 8 will reportedly bring a new blur effect to the Quick Panel and notification area. When you swipe down, the background stays slightly visible. This small change makes the screen feel more modern and smooth.

Moreover, this update also improves the My Files app. It now has a cleaner look and better folder layout. You can easily see which subfolder a file is in, thanks to clearer folder paths and a new layout. This makes it simpler to find and manage your files. This is quite helpful for people who use their tablet for work or school.

Even though this version is under internal testing, it’s clear that Samsung is working on making tablets feel more modern and easy to use. The features are similar to the phone version of One UI 8 but are designed to work better on a big screen.
Galaxy Tab users might need to wait a bit longer for the official beta, but these early changes show that exciting things are on the way. Stay tuned, more updates and improvements are likely coming soon.

Android 16’s Earthquake Warnings feel outdated over Samsung’s One UI 8

Samsung is adding a new earthquake warning system to its One UI 8 update, and it might be even better than the one from Google’s Android 16. While it’s still not live in the current beta version, @GalaxyTechie already spotted it, and it looks promising.
Just like Google’s system, Samsung’s earthquake alert can warn people just before an earthquake hits their area. It shows a full-screen message and plays a loud sound to alert you quickly. But Samsung goes a bit further by adding more helpful features.
Samsung’s earthquake alert feature lets users preview how the alert will look and sound, which can help people know what to expect. It also keeps a history of past alerts. Users can even choose how and when they want to get alerts based on the magnitude of the earthquake and the time of day.
Moreover, it can show nearby emergency shelters. The alert can also display your emergency contacts and medical info, which can be important for first responders during an emergency.

Google’s earthquake warning system is strong and works on many Android phones, but it doesn’t have all these extra features. It’s not clear why Samsung made its own version, but it might be for areas where Google’s service doesn’t work like China.
Still, Samsung’s feature looks like a great step forward. With features like emergency info, shelter locations, and preview options, it gives users more control and support during earthquakes. It would be great if Google added some of these tools to its version.
It is reported via a reliable tipster, @GerwinvGeissen, that Samsung’s Earthquake Warning feature may be exclusive to China, similar to Galaxy apps, including Smart Manager, Bixby Touch, and more.
For now, Samsung’s One UI 8 earthquake warning system is showing how safety alerts can be even smarter. It is expected that Samsung will soon make this feature available.

Samsung’s One UI 8 rewriting the rules of Screenshots with Android 16 HDR

One standout One UI 8 feature in testing is HDR screenshots support. Found in the Internal Beta build ZYF7, this feature lets users capture HDR content with vibrant details. It’s not yet in the Public Beta, but it shows promise for future releases.
Leaker Ice Universe tested this One UI 8 screenshots upgrade on an S25 Ultra, capturing an HDR photo from social media. The screenshot retained the original image’s HDR effect, showcasing the feature’s potential to enhance visual quality.
Currently, HDR screenshot support is exclusive to the ZYF7 closed beta and absent from the One UI 8 Beta 2 (ZYF3), which is available for Beta participants. Samsung may include it in the next open beta or the stable release expected soon.
Android 16 enables true HDR screenshots by saving them as PNG files with embedded gain maps. These allow screenshots to display HDR highlights on compatible Android 16 devices while appearing as standard SDR on others.

HDR screenshots deliver richer colors and better contrast, making them excellent for sharing high-quality images. This feature could redefine how we capture and share content, and we are hopeful Samsung includes this in the final One UI 8 release.
The Stable One UI 8 update is set to be introduced with the next-generation foldable phones, likely in early July 2025. Galaxy S25 users could see it shortly after, with other devices like the S24 and Z Fold 6 following.
The One UI 8 update, based on Android 16, is bringing exciting updates to Galaxy devices. The beta program for the Galaxy S25 series is already live, while the second beta update has expanded the opportunity to India and Poland.

Galaxy S22 and Z Fold 5 enter the One UI 8 testing arena

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and Z Fold 5 caught running One UI 8 on Geekbench. As the One UI 8 Beta is underway for Samsung’s latest flagships, older phones and foldables are also gearing up for the Android 16 upgrade.
Recently, a Galaxy S22 Plus and Z Fold 5 benchmarked on Geekbench (via Alfaturk), with a listing reveals both phones were running One UI 8. Last month, Samsung’s firmware server listed Android 16 firmware for the S22 Ultra.
Notably, the Galaxy S22 Plus scored 1466 and 3000 points in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests. On the flip side, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 managed to secure 1995 and 5055 points in the same Geekbench testing metrics.
Samsung is expected to open One UI 8 Beta for the Galaxy S22 series and Z Fold5. However, these devices are not in priority, also the Beta Program’s launch isn’t certain. The company may also bring them the official version directly.
In late May, Samsung published Beta Program notice boards for the S22 and S23 series. It’s an indication of Beta access for these flagships. It would take time as Samsung is currently busy in prep for the new products launching in July.
One UI 8 is going to be the last and second-to-last OS upgrade for the Galaxy S22 series and Z Fold5/Flip5, respectively. The Galaxy S21 series and Z Fold/Flip 3 have received One UI 7 as their last major upgrade earlier.

Samsung is set to unveil the Android 16-based One UI 8 next month. The new foldables will come pre-installed with this new OS. The company will expand the new features and enhancements to older models through firmware updates.
One UI 8 brings minor yet welcoming user interface tweaks. It’s just bringing the One UI 7 experiences to the next level. System-wide design improvements and blurred pop-up boxes are being added for a great appearance.
