Samsung starts rolling out One UI 6.1.1 update with new AI features to Galaxy S24 series in the US. The update is initially released by T-Mobile for Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, which should soon be followed by other carriers.

The One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy S24 series weighs nearly 2.9GB in the US. It includes an array of Galaxy AI features alongside system-wide improvements. However, it doesn’t carry the latest September 2024 security patches.

Samsung fans have been eagerly waiting for the One UI Feature Drop. The company officially confirmed the expansion of new features from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 to select older Galaxy smartphones last week.

The Korean variants of the S24 lineup have already started grabbing the upgrade. The latest expansion is taking place in the United States, where carrier-unlocked and other carrier-branded models still waiting. For T-Mobile variants, the version numbers are as follows:

  • S928USQU3AXH7 – S24 Ultra
  • S926USQU3AXH7 – S24 Plus
  • S921USQU3AXH7 – Galaxy S24

One UI 6.1.1 brings new and enhanced Galaxy AI features:

Galaxy AI’s fan favorite Circle to Search is being enhanced with new functionalities. Now, you can get step-by-step instructions for solving complex math problems. Besides, the Sound Search recognizes and searches audio on-screen or nearby.

One UI 6.1.1’s Note Assist brings a new transcript tool that can create notes based on voice recordings. The PDF Overlay Translation translates and overlays text in PDF files or even translates text in images and graphs.

Adding to this, Portrait Studio lets you instantly create portraits in 3D cartoon or watercolor. Gallery’s Instant Slow-mo is also enhanced to maintain smooth image quality before quickly saving and sharing without saving separately.

Sketch to Image is the most wonderful feature of the One UI 6.1.1-based Galaxy AI. It helps enhance photos by generating a selection of image options, which perfectly complement the original image based on simple sketches.

Rumor: Samsung plans Snapdragon in Galaxy S25 line, MediaTek in S25 FE

Samsung could rely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite (8 Gen 4) in the Galaxy S25 series. Some rumors indicating MediaTek Dimensity 9400 in the vanilla S25 seem untrue, as Samsung is reportedly considering it in the S25 FE.

According to a new rumor, the Galaxy S25 FE could use MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 lineup could exclusively equip Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite or 8 Gen 4 (whatever the name would be).

The South Korean tech giant could not be able to mass produce the Exynos 2500 on its 3nm process. Some media reports that the yield rate is just 20-30%, which is way too lower than the required rate for mass production.

Samsung is reconsidering its product strategy to maintain dominance in the market. Recently, the company apologized to investors, consumers, and employees for slow innovation. We could see many major developments in the future.

The Galaxy S25 series should not compromise on the chipset aspect. Processor is the brain of any smartphone and Samsung must pick the best solution for its flagships. The stronger the SoC, the more attention the S25 series would grab.

Previously, Samsung promised to launch the Exynos 2500 based on a 3nm process. The company has been struggling with lower-than-expected yields. Now, the situation could not be improved and Snapdragon is the only solution to be opted for.

Snapdragon 8 Elite is being manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. Qualcomm has also developed the Oryon central processing unit. The new architecture could bring a significant boost in terms of performance and efficiency.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra may feature Fold6-inspired camera design

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Camera Ring

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra camera design remains to be a mystery. CAD renders showcased slightly rounded corners of the next flagships. However, the camera rings continue to be a controversial aspect of the S25 Ultra design.

In a new leak, tipster IceUniverse claims to have final design info of the S25 Ultra. The leaker claimed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra could feature the Galaxy Z Fold 6-like camera rings, which could be similar, but not the same.

CAD renders showcased a Fold6-inspired camera ring pattern. Later on, IceUniverse claimed that the S25 Ultra wouldn’t adopt such looking rings. However, the tipster now has updated information that the rings are identical to Fold6’s.

This means the S25 Ultra camera rings may not be as metallic and crispy as the S24 Ultra. Rather, the rings would adopt a textured design surrounding the sensor. The rings’ thickness would be higher than the rings used in the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

For now, take the input with a grain of salt as the final design could only be confirmed after the start of mass production. Well, the front side of the S25 Ultra will look even more classical than the S24 Ultra.

Samsung has further refined the bezel and smartly modified the overall dimensions. As a result, the S25 Ultra could be slightly taller and narrower. The company has also worked on reducing the thickness and weight of the next Ultra.

These crucial refinements are taken into account to solidify the sales potential. We expect the mega unveiling event by Samsung early next year.

One UI 7

Samsung has reportedly updated many icons in One UI 7 and added powerful widgets. The company teased the internal build of the upcoming software. The development is still in progress, and design modifications are underway.

IceUniverse revealed Samsung changed many icons and added new widgets in One UI 7. The software is “still in the development stage,” the source mentioned. The revelation aligns with Samsung’s announcement for further refinements.

Samsung will launch the Beta Program by the end of this year. We are expecting a brief One UI 7 Beta Program, covering limited models. Recently, the US community moderator confirmed that the Beta Program will launch for the Public as well.

The source highlighted that the Gallery app’s icon has been changed again. It looks like Samsung has also altered the in-app competent icons of Gallery. More native app icons are reportedly revamped as we await the Beta to kickstart.

In addition, the One UI 7 has added new widgets for Galaxy devices. Ice suggests the addition of “some incomparably rich widgets.” These widgets may offer powerful features that are not available in any other rival OS.

Samsung’s Android 15 has been in the headlines for a quite long time. The software is awaited by millions of Galaxy fans worldwide. The company is delaying the release to offer a bug-free experience to Galaxy devices.

The final version of One UI 7 will be announced with the Galaxy S25 series next year. Due to this major change, One UI 7.1’s existence is in question. It’s uncertain whether the .1 version of One UI 7 will ship with new Galaxy S phones next year.

Will One UI 7.1 launch or be skipped after Samsung’s One UI 7 confirmation with Galaxy S25?
