Samsung Galaxy S25 series could use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 internationally. The company may not utilize Exynos 2500 chipset in its next flagship lineup. The decision is aimed at maintaining an edge over rivals in the AI Phone era.

Korea’s Hankyung reports that Samsung will go all Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 on the Galaxy S25 series. The Exynos 2500 could not debut with the bar-type flagships. Samsung may consider shifting it to foldable phones in the second half of the next year.

There were reports of low yield in Samsung Foundry’s 3nm process. The company, however, denied all rumors, pledging Exynos is progressing reliably. The chipset is unlikely to be used in the speculated Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus models.

The South Korean tech giant has reportedly made this decision to secure the top spot in the newly opened AI phone market by investing in only the highest-performance components to fend off competition from Apple and Chinese companies.

Exynos 2500 is planned to be produced on a 3nm process. Meanwhile, Qualcomm has equipped its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 with a new Oryon CPU. The component significantly boosted the overall performance, forcing Samsung to ditch Exynos.

Samsung’s Exynos usually lags behind Snapdragon in terms of CPU performance. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 reportedly offers a 30% boost in performance despite GenAI inclusion. A major boost in the next Snapdragon probably killed Exynos 2500’s arrival in S25.

The Galaxy S23 series is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 internationally. The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus use Exynos outside the US, with Ultra ships with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 globally. The S23 series-like chip strategy is expected in the S25 series.
