Samsung could release Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim in September. The company is rapidly finalizing things before the official unveiling. A new report coming from South Korea talks about the tentative launch date and pricing details.

According to Chosun, Samsung plans to release the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim as early as September 25. The smartphone will be unveiled in South Korea in a Black colorway with a price tag of 2.8 million won (approximately $2,100).

Notably, translating currency from Korean Won to US Dollar doesn’t mean the phone is coming to the United States. Previous reports say that it will only be available in South Korea and China, where foldable phones are selling well.

It will mark the launch of Samsung’s thinnest foldable yet. It’s said to be around 10mm thick when folded, compared to the 12.1mm thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung is making great efforts to reduce even 0.1mm of thickness.

This marginal change in thickness was made possible due to the removal of the digitizer. As a result, the Slim-branded foldable phone won’t support the S Pen stylus. The company is also closely working with its Display and Electro-Mechanics subsidiaries.

The South Korean tech giant is said to continue reducing the thickness and weight of flagships. After larger screens, the competition has emerged on lightweight and thin phones. The streak of gradual refinements will continue in the future.

Samsung led the competition with the world’s first on-device AI phone. Now it is targeting an edge in the thin/slim and lightweight phone race. That said, the global smartphone market is shifting its focus to how thin the next product can be.
