Samsung considers AI on all Galaxy to counter challenge from China
Fierce competition from Chinese brands may kick out Samsung from its leading spot. Industry sources believe that China-based smartphone vendors are quite aggressive in Southeast Asia, potentially harming Samsung’s sales.
The Korean tech giant has maintained its dominance given mid to low-priced phones sold in emerging markets. The company has recently lost its crown to Xiaomi in the Indian market and things are not quite well in Southeast Asia.
Samsung may lose its leading position in SEA as consumers are seeking affordable phones. It has been noticed that budget Galaxy phones lag behind Chinese models in terms of hardware specifications and appearance.
The growth of the premium segment in the Southeast Asian smartphone market is expected to positively impact Samsung. In H1, flagship devices priced over $600 reached 5.1 million units, an 18 percent increase year over year.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Samsung has realigned its global strategy. The company has reportedly shifted its focus to the flagship market. It’s investing heavily in marketing and creating exclusive pop-up events to showcase its AI capabilities.
As far as the mid-range market is concerned, Samsung is considering the expansion of Galaxy AI. It is expected that the company will fuel its mid-range phones with artificial intelligence capabilities, helping them stand apart from rivals.
