Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could let Galaxy S25 Ultra beat iPhone 16 Pro Max
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 internationally. Qualcomm will officially introduce its next-gen flagship chipset in October this year. Most of the upcoming Android flagships will likely use the upcoming processor.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be manufactured on 3nm process technology. It will be the first time when Android phones will utilize a 3nm processor. Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro models use A17 Pro SoC fabricated by TSMC on a 3nm process.
Ahead of the launch, benchmark scores of the next Snapdragon have appeared. The scores promise that the performance of Galaxy S25 Ultra will be exceptional. It would help Samsung beat Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of performance.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (not on Galaxy S25 Ultra) scored 2,884 points in the single-core test and 8,840 points in the multi-core test in Geekbench 6. The chip was paired with 12GB of RAM and such an incredible performance boost was recorded by the prototype.
Samsung is expected to equip the Galaxy S25 Ultra with 16GB RAM. The initial scores of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are already 35% better in the single-core test and 30% better in the multi-core test compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
An additional 4GB RAM installation would push the performance further. A decent CPU performance increment is expected with 16GB RAM and optimized software. Qualcomm will also work on further refinements to improve the overall performance.
Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon is rumored to use two high-performance Oryon CPU cores @ 4.09GHz or higher and six power-efficient CPU cores @ 2.78GHz. For graphics, it could get an Adreno 830 GPU, featuring advanced gaming capabilities.
Samsung’s S24 Ultra already beats the iPhone 15 Pro Max in GPU performance. The graphics chip will continue to perform better than Apple’s next chipset. Hence, there’s a good chance to surpass the iPhone in CPU performance this year.
