Krafton hires Apple, Samsung execs
Recently, Krafton hired Richard Yoon, who led Apple’s WW health business in Cupertino as head of strategy and global operation late last year. In May, the company appointed Thomas Ko, who led Samsung Pay’s global expansion, as head of its publishing platform.
The Korean game dev appointed Jin Oh, ex-president of Riot Games (known for League of Legends) as chief global publishing officer. Oh was managing director of Blizzard Entertainment Inc. known for the industry’s most acclaimed games such as Diablo.
“The appointment was a move to strengthen the competitiveness of overseas businesses through discovering intellectual property, expanding our publishing businesses,” said a Krafton official.
Jin Oh was the latest in a string of high-profile global information technology experts to join Krafton. The company is said to have tapped those executives with various overseas businesses to become the top game publisher in India.
Reports say that Krafton is planning to bring at least six titles this year where PUBG made a huge success. The company has secured IP for nine games this year for equity investments, after obtaining those for 10 titles in 2023, seven in 2022, and two in 2021.

WhatsApp bringing new feature to easily transfer community ownership
WhatsApp is rolling out a new update for Android users, which brings the long-awaited transfer ownership feature to the community. This feature allows community owners to easily transfer their leadership role to another member.
Previously, if a WhatsApp community owner wanted to transfer ownership, they had to create a new community and ask everyone to join it. This was a long process and could lead to losing members and causing confusion.
Now, the new transfer ownership feature of WhatsApp resolves this issue by making it simple to pass on the leadership without any major disruptions and following a too-long process.
This feature appears in the community settings and makes it simple for current owners to transfer their leadership duties. Once the transfer is complete, the original owner will still be an admin but will lose the top decision-making capabilities.
They can continue to help manage and moderate the community, but won’t be able to make major changes like disabling the community or removing other admins.
The Transfer community ownership feature is currently available to some beta testers who have installed the WhatsApp beta version 2.24.19.34 from the Google Play Store. The company plans to roll it out to more users over the next few weeks.
