Breaking: Samsung says no issues in 3nm process yield and performance

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra 3nm Exynos W1000

Samsung Foundry Forum and SAFE Forum were held yesterday. Samsung also reiterated that its second-generation 3nm process is progressing as planned with stable performance and yield.

There are many rumors citing the company is facing yield issues with its 3nm process node. However, the latest press release comes as the second official statement, faking the rumor spread in the recent past.

Samsung is expected to manufacture Exynos 2500 chipset on its 3nm process tech. A recent report from a Chinese outlet claimed that the company’s 2nd gen 3nm yield is as low as 20 percent.

The Korean tech giant could not be able to commence mass production of Exynos chipset at this yield rate. However, the latest development indicates that the Exynos 2500 can still become a reality if yield and performance stay up.

Samsung’s 3nm chip is set to debut today in the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra. Next year, it is expected to be used in the company’s tentative flagship phones – Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus, as Exynos 2500.

Foundry Forum

Samsung’s forums were held under the topics “Empowering the AI Revolution” and “AI: Exploring Possibilities and Future.” The company stated that it will provide the most needed AI solutions.

One of the most focussed solutions is BCD which increases AI power efficiency and high-sensitivity sensor technology to improve edge device accuracy.

In addition, Samsung revealed a turnkey service order it secured based on its cutting-edge process through collaboration with Gaonchips, a South Korean DSP manufacturer.

2nm AI semiconductor solution deal

Yesterday, Samsung disclosed its latest deal with Japan’s Preferred Networks. The deal will further strengthen Samsung’s advanced 2nm process given GAA competitiveness and 2.5D packaging technology.

The South Korean tech giant plans to mass-produce 2nm (SF2)-based AI accelerator semiconductors from Japan’s Preferred Networks (PFN) through a 2.5D (I-Cube S) advanced package.
