Samsung today launched the world’s fastest 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM. It features 25% higher performance, 30% more capacity, and 25% higher power efficiency. The LPDDR5X DRAM is the optimal solution for future on-device applications, which would expand to PCs, accelerators, servers, and automobiles.

The company has achieved the smallest chip size among existing LPDDRs, thanks to 12nm-class process technology. Notably, it’s the first LPDDR5X DRAM in the world that brings the highest performance of up to 10.7 gigabits per second (Gbps).

“As demand for low-power, high-performance memory increases, LPDDR DRAM is expected to expand its applications from mainly mobile to other areas that traditionally require higher performance and reliability such as PCs, accelerators, servers and automobiles,” said YongCheol Bae, Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning of the Memory Business at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung revealed that the new 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X expands the single package capacity of mobile DRAM up to 32GB. Mass production of the LPDDR5X is scheduled to begin by the second half of the year, following verification with mobile AP and mobile device providers.

The new DRAM comprises optimized power variation and expanded low-power mode intervals. These kinds of innovative power-saving technologies extend energy-saving periods, enhancing power efficiency by 25% over the previous generation.
