Android’s offline Find My Device network could be coming to your Samsung Galaxy

Google officially launched the new Find My Device network for Android. It’s initially rolling out in the US and Canada, with more regions to follow sequentially. The company hinted Android’s new Find My Device network would be expanded to a few Samsung Galaxy flagships.

The new Find My Device network can find devices even when they are not connected to the internet or discharged. Interestingly, Google’s latest flagships – Pixel 8 and 8 Pro can be found even “if they’re powered off or the battery is dead.”

Offline Find My Device will initially find lost Android devices, with headphones coming soon after, with support for third-party Find My Device Bluetooth tags coming in May. The new service (FMD network) will use over a billion Android 9+ devices to find your lost items.

The Android maker revealed that it is “working” with other Android OEMs and chipmakers on expanding this capability to premium devices. For the Pixel 8 series offline finding feature, Google credits “specialized Pixel hardware.”

Most of the Pixel 8 features arrived on the Galaxy S24 and S23 series with One UI 6.1. Therefore, it’s likely that the offline finding feature would be served to most recent Samsung flagships. Besides, supported tracker tags will be launched by later this year for your belongings.
