A new rumor says that Samsung is considering fueling Galaxy S25’s Exynos 2500 chip with faster AI and Google TPU. The Pixel 8 series brings On-device AI, faster GMS functions, and powerful Machine Learning capabilities to mobile and Samsung is about to benefit from Google’s lead in AI.

Tipster OreXDA revealed that Samsung Galaxy S25’s Exynos 2500 SoC could bring one G-NPU, one S-NPU, and a new component labeled TPU. The diagram also shows that Exynos 2200 has one G-NPU. The Exynos 2400 has one G-NPU and one S-NPU.

As Exynos 2500 is rumored to get Google TPU, Samsung appears to improving the machine learning capabilities of the Galaxy S25 series. This inclusion could benefit in many ways including image recognition, natural language processing, and augmented reality.

Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S25 series in early 2025. The lineup is expected to boast Exynos 2500 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipsets (market-wise). To gain consumer trust, the company is constantly exploring ways to make Exynos a real competitor to Snapdragon.

G-NPU, S-NPU, DSP & TPU explained

  • G-NPU (General Neural Processing Unit): It is designed for a wide range of machine-learning tasks.
  • S-NPU (Specialized Neural Processing Unit): It is designed for specific tasks, such as image recognition.
  • DSP (Digital Signal Processor): It is a more general-purpose processor that can be used for machine learning tasks.
  • TPU (Tensor Processing Unit): It is a type of NPU that is specifically designed for machine learning tasks that involve tensors, which are multidimensional arrays of numbers.
